🥳 WIGGLY WORMS 🪱 🪱
Every Wednesday the highlight of the day is when the pupils of Barnham CEVC Primary School feed their worms in the @wormcity_wormery . 🪱 🪱 then produce ‘worm poop’, the children harvest it and use the vermicompost in their raised beds to boost plant growth and improve soil structure.
Amy Arnold, head teacher, @_growingthefuture created this day. With her team they have embedded teaching the children all about soil, farming, food and the environment into all lessons. Their work is truly inspirational and you can see them in the short film produced for @soil_ed_uk
🎧 To hear more from 🤩 Amy tune in to our next podcast episode, due to be released next week. For now you can subscribe and be alerted when the episode is live. 🎙️

At Barnham, our staff are celebrating #WorldBookNight and joining in with the #ReadingHour 7-8pm this evening! 📖🌅✨
Our aim is to #GoAllIn this year for the National Year of Reading and inspire one another and the children at our school to be readers 📚✨
We want to create a school and community of readers at Barnham so are taking part this evening to share our enthusiasm and love for reading for pleasure! And what a beautiful evening for it - so many of us are reading in our gardens soaking up the final rays of sunshine ☀️
We are reading a range of books between us from fiction to non-fiction, from children’s and YA books to adult’s! There are lots of great books to recommend here too 📖❤️
We’d love to hear what you are reading this evening too! 📚🌟🌛

Year 3 & 4 had a truly memorable and action-packed day at the Suffolk Schools Farm & Country Fair! 🌾🐑
Throughout the day, the children enjoyed a wide range of hands-on activities including wood carving and learning about forestry and sustainability 🌳 They explored archaeology, discovered how invasive species impact ecosystems, and stepped back in time to learn about Viking Britain. They also learned about the importance of bees 🐝 in pollination and even tasted some delicious local honey 🍯
We met the Air Ambulance team 🚁 and took part in an important first aid session, learning how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator, as well as hearing how food is checked for safety when entering the country. We also worked with EDF to explore conductors and insulators by becoming human circuits and talked to the police and printed our own fingerprints
One of the highlights of the day was the lively Sheep Show, and the children loved meeting a variety of animals including pigs, sheep, horses, alpacas, guinea pigs and rabbits 🐖🐴🐑 They also enjoyed football and nerf gun activities and showed great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout!
To finish the day, everyone sampled tasty sausages and fruit kebabs, learned how crisps are made from farm to packet, and even got to taste them! We were also lucky enough to bring back trees to plant at school 🌳💚
A fantastic day full of learning, laughter and unforgettable experiences!

🌴One slow glorious week away in the sun…

❄️⛄️ When we heard that @twinklresources were launching a Frozen-themed competition with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to win a trip to @disneyland — and even sing with @katherinejenkinsobe #🎵🎤 — we knew we had to go for it!
The brief? Bring the energy and enthusiasm… something Barnham has in abundance! ✨❤️
On the last day of term, we brought our choir together for something truly special. With huge thanks to Hannah and the amazing team at @theelitestudioea , the children were treated to hair and makeup ready for filming 🎀💋 — and they absolutely loved it!
But we didn’t stop there… how could we make it even more magical?
By transforming our very own teachers — Miss Bacon as Elsa ❄️ and Miss Cross @_tarasteaching as Anna 👑!
In true Barnham spirit, it was a full team effort from start to finish. The children shone, embraced every moment, and threw themselves into both the performance and all the activities that came with it. Thank you, @twinkl , for such an inspiring opportunity!
This reel captures just a glimpse of the joy, creativity, and sparkle ✨
Now… fingers and toes crossed for us! 🤞
Good luck to everyone who entered — and to our incredible choir, we are always so proud of you 💙#twinkl #competitions #schoolchoir #energyandenthusiasm
REGENERATION OF EDUCATION
🪱 Amy @_growingthefuture ‘s work barnhamcevc epitomises all @soil_ed_uk is campaigning for. At Barnham they teach soil, food, farming, nature and climate education across all subjects. Amy’s vision started in the school kitchen but is now in the classroom and playground.
😊 The results are happier, healthier and calmer pupils, and staff. Much of what is taught most adults have little knowledge of, and that is why they involve the parents too.
Their ethos is that the whole school community is involved . It has obviously been a journey but one Amy and her staff know is worth the long term investment.
🌍 Our aim , as partners of Soil.ED , is to highlight the work of the schools and colleges who are championing regeneration. Those who have the foresight to prepare their pupils for the future in this uncertain world.
💭 Perhaps if every person in leadership roles could be immersed, as these children are, in these subjects then they would place nature and soil first farming and food production at the top of the agenda.

🕊️ Today I had the privilege of attending the Suffolk Justice Service at St Edmundsbury Cathedral and left feeling truly humbled and uplifted.
The address by the breathtaking Lemn Sissay @sissaylemn was powerful, honest, and deeply moving, reminding us of the strength found in compassion, justice, and human connection. The beautiful singing by Level Two @level_two_youth_project filled the cathedral with warmth and hope, creating a moment that felt both reflective and full of light.
It was a poignant reminder that each of us holds the ability to make a difference, however small it may seem. We are all threads in the same rich tapestry of life, and when woven together with kindness, courage, and understanding, we create something truly meaningful.
Leaving the service today, I felt a renewed sense of hope — that through empathy, community, and shared purpose, the light can find the way . ✨💛

Today our children and staff watched the Soil Ed film, featuring their learning, for the first time.
It was truly magical ✨
Big smiles.
Gasps.
Beaming smiles.
Proud faces.
“It’s like a documentary.”
“It was brilliant.”
“I feel inspired and proud.”
A very special preview…
Before the official unveiling tomorrow. 🌱

🐑 Spring is in the air!
Badger Class enjoyed a fantastic knowledge engagement visit with our curriculum partner @eustonfarm this week. Working together as part of our ten year partnership, we were able to bring our classroom learning to life out on the farm.
We began by getting up close and personal with a wild bee hive, discovering just how busy the bees are at this time of year. We saw images from inside the Euston hive – fascinating! (We’re still patiently waiting for a swarm to arrive in our own school hive 🐝).
A sunny stroll led us to meet James the Shepherd, helping us build on our knowledge of mammals by seeing first-hand how they feed and care for their young. In the lambing shed we heard the bleats of lambs only a few hours old and learned just how hard both the ewes and James are working during this busy season!
A huge thank you to Farmer Ollie and Shepherd James for taking the time to answer ALL our questions and helping us deepen our learning of farming and food!
A pleasure to have 20 trainee teachers from the University of Cambridge soak up the benefits of learning outdoors - on and off our school site.

The Traitors 2026 @barnhamcevc staff edition ❌💀🗡️🪦🛡️
This is our third year of running the game at school and we’ve had a LOT of fun, even if it means no one can trust anyone ever again now.. 🫣😂
@missandersks1 and I were both Claudia Winkleman and this year we let staff apply to be traitors so we could choose them! We started with two traitors and had one secret traitor too 🤫 Each night we had a ‘round table’ on our group chat where someone was banished! The traitors could murder or recruit each night. Everyone would know when someone had been murdered if their picture in the staff room had a cross through it in the morning ❌
The traitors (and sometimes the secret traitor too) had to complete challenges each day and sometimes players could find a shield or ‘dagger’ hidden in school to keep them safe from being banished or give them extra votes at the roundtable!🛡️
We also had some fun creating group challenges for the faithfuls such as recreating portraits and a maths challenge on number day!
We have had a brilliant couple of weeks playing and are sad it’s over now! We had a live final after school yesterday on Friday 13th (how fitting) where two faithfuls won - the first time we’ve had faithfuls win! They won the basket full of treats that had been earned doing the challenges 🥳🍫 Congratulations @the_outdoorsy_headteacher and Lynne! 👏🏼
I highly recommend playing this to boost morale and have a bit of fun and laughter in the staff room 😀

A little flashback to cheer up Blue Monday! 💙
At the end of last term, Hedgehog Class continued our special tradition of planting a Christmas tree sapling at Euston Estate 🌲
After a glorious trailer ride — spotting helicopters, deer and horses along the way — we arrived to a crackling fire and time for some festive songs 🔥🎶
The children loved learning all about Norwegian spruce saplings and imagining just how tall they might grow one day! With help from Farmer Ian and John the forester, we carefully planted our tree — look at those excellent heeling-in skills! 👏
We were also delighted to be joined by 22 trainee teachers from the University of Cambridge growing the future teaching profession alongside our children 🌱📚
A huge thank you to Euston Farm for being our cherished curriculum partner for the past ten years. We love being part of this legacy — and with all the flashbacks to 2016, this is where it all began 💚
