Co Headling April 17th we have none other than @nightslugs boss @dj__bok all the way from London! All going down at @transmission.dc (LINK IN BOTH OUR BIOS) Bok Bok - DJ, producer, & director of London labels Night Slugs and AP Life. Relocating from Ukraine to South London in 1992 Bok discovered music via the Jungle & Garage that saturated their new urban environment, as much as the pop, metal, rap & dance videos on MTV & The Box. It wasn’t until they left school that London’s pirate radio stations started to pump out Grime music, and Bok Bok was hooked. White label vinyl 12”s & DJ practice became a way of life, and soon they began DJing on pioneering internet radio stations UTZ and Sub FM & at impromptu parties on the South London illegal rave scene. A hunger for raw club sounds soon drew Bok Bok beyond Grime to other, highly compatible genres - House, Techno & US Club.    Blending styles from across the Atlantic with a London-centric soundsystem mentality, a new sound began to emerge via remixes and original beats by Bok Bok as well as other likeminded friends like Girl Unit, Jam City & Ikonika. Bok Bok founded Night Slugs in 2008 as a hub for this new wave of club music. By then Bok had moved to London’s leading pirate station Rinse FM. In 2010 Night Slugs became a record label, with Bok Bok assuming the roles of exec producer, art-director, mixing engineer, accountant, publicist etc etc. Despite the label’s DIY ethos, Night Slugs captured imaginations, taking the crew and their music worldwide. In 2023 Night Slugs celebrated 15 years of steady progress with a future-facing programme of releases and tours. Since 2024, as Bok Bok’s production has matured they have been focussed on a fresh sound informed by House tempo, deep grooves and broken pockets of heavy bass learnt from their early Grime & Dubstep influences. A series of Hardbody Dubs releases of club edits & bootlegs via their Bandcamp has gained widespread support amongst DJs, and is being followed up by new original material, as a Bok Bok continues to delve deeper into their unique sonic world.

First up for our take over Jan 15th at @transmission.dc is our headliner hailing from Brazil 🇧🇷 @rhrmusiq 🇧🇷!!!! Born in Diadema, greater São Paulo area, Roniere Santos started his DJ career in Londrina, in 2010. From the experience of the ghetto, came the influence of Brazilian rhythms and percussive elements. RHR, now based in São Paulo, takes a careful look at his ideas in electronic music. Hence the invitation for the monthly residency on the French radio station Rinse FM with the program “Som Sistema”. Defined by himself as “percussive soundscapes”, form the combination that’s gaining more space in the music scene in Brazil and around the world. Always seeking to understand the stimuli of São Paulo, the artist continues to expose his research in multiple genres such as techno, bass, dancehall, electro and baile funk. With five solo EPs released and one in partnership with the American artist Danny Daze, Roniere is preparing for a new release where he intends to share his artistic veins even more. In addition to partnerships with labels such as Mamba Rec, Omnidisc, Pac Recs and Nice and Deadly, RHR is an integral part of the NY-based label TIJOLO Records. Recognized for the creativity behind his choices, RHR illustrates like few others what São Paulo’s sound could be.
