A recent Virtual Production workshop at Fivefold Studios where Sunbelt Rentals Film & TV delivered the LED volume alongside camera and lens packages to support an immersive, in-camera VFX workflow 🎥 Attendees from the Virtual Production Fellowship explored the LED volume through hands-on ICVFX training, working on live briefs covering Unreal Engine, camera tracking, colour pipeline, and stage/volume control workflows. They collaborated with trainers to practice real-world VP operations, with a focus on cross-department coordination between VP, production, camera, lighting, and art departments. The Virtual Production Fellowship is a fully funded, 9-month training programme for Wales-based screen professionals. Funded by Media Cymru and delivered by Final Pixel Academy with partners Fivefold Studios, Gorilla Academy and the University of South Wales. The StoryFutures/Final Pixel partnership at Royal Holloway, University of London is delighted to announce the launch of their Skills Futures micro skills training programme, offering ‘The AI-ready Producer’ part-funded through ScreenSkills. This purpose built intensive hands-on programme for freelance Film Producers will run from 12 – 31 March and aims to tackle the industry’s critical training void in AI head-on. The programme will centre on real-world experience of AI use in film production, offering practical and creative AI skills right across the creation and delivery cycle of a project, in multiple formats across a range of platforms. Final Pixel Academy Delivers Virtual Production Training for ScreenSkills HETV & Film Trainee Finder cohort at the BBC We recently wrapped up an incredible 4 days at the BBC Television Centre! The initiative, funded by the ScreenSkills HETV and Film Skills Funds, with contributions from HETV and Film UK productions, supported 30 travel bursaries and provided training to 145 talented individuals from across the UK. The training, designed to address the critical shortage of skills in virtual production techniques, focused on advanced hands-on experience in pre-visualisation, real-time rendering, virtual sets, and integrating live-action with CGI. Key skills covered included producing VP (For writers, Producers, Line Producers), creating virtual art (VAD or Virtual Art Department), filming in a volume (For DoPs, Directors and Camera depts), running a volume (for on-set OSVP teams working as Stage Technicians, Operators and Technical Artists) and sound as core components of a successful virtual production workflow. The training also emphasised best practices for collaboration in high-pressure production environments, working across departments in HETV and film. This project is part of ScreenSkills' continued commitment to supporting and developing the UK's screen industry workforce. It was an honour for our team at Final Pixel to be part of this initiative and continue working with our partners and stakeholders to continue to skill up the industry.
