After recent excursions into deeper realms of techno and electro, ULTRA LIGHT PLUS returns to OHM for a special low-end focus on Wednesday night, 22:00, ahead of the bank holiday the next day. Diving into weightier territory, Jean Redondo, ELLLL and Marie Tjong Ayong join for an eclectic ULP edition exploring the physical and cerebral.⁠ ⁠ True to the ULP DNA, the night continues to inhabit the “space between” genres, touching on the funkier side of bass, acid, electro, glitch, footwork, ghettotech, percussive techno, and rhythms that bend sideways rather than straight ahead.⁠ ⁠ Jean Redondo loves the infinite possibilities of experimental music, while also being deeply drawn to footwork and ghetto music. Over the years, he has tried to merge these somewhat opposing influences. While footwork and ghetto music consist of raw elements, experimental music is often based on the use of effects. He progressively reached a satisfying balance between cold, technological and surgical sound design, bouncy rhythms, and warm sub frequencies. Jean returns to Berlin from Marseille for the first time in 10 years, presenting his new live set for the first time. Airy, dreamy, and deeply groovy, her music invites listeners into a world shaped by texture and emotional depth, often reconnecting with her roots through layered, expressive sound design.⁠ ⁠ Rounding off the night are hosts Syrtaki and Thomas Hoffmann as Ultra Light Plus DJs. As usual, they guide the journey’s beginning and end, weaving the night’s threads into one cohesive narrative.

This time, the project reaches beyond Ireland’s borders, bringing together an eclectic group of international artists to reinterpret one of music’s most mythic and enigmatic songs: Louie Louie. Titled The Sky Was a Mouth Again, the compilation is a bold reimagining of Richard Berry’s 1955 garage anthem - a song that has echoed through decades of protest, censorship, and counterculture. Across continents and genres, artists have responded to the track with interpretations that are urgent, fractured, defiant, and deeply moving.
