It's back on! Are you (still) bored of being human? Want to hold on to that Dancing Monsters parade induced glow or haze a bit longer? Interested in experimental printmaking techniques? Join Dancing Monsters Saturday 18th May from 11am to 2pm at QT Hub, 67 Spring St Queenstown, for this hands-on, post-parade tetrapak printmaking workshop to print your own set of Dancing Monsters trading cards. Tetrapak printing is an accessible, eco-friendly printmaking technique that is suitable for both beginner and experienced printmakers. We’ll be using recycled milk, juice and/or soup cartons (i.e. tetrapaks) to create our intaglio (printing) plates. We’ll be using various sharp and/or scratchy tools to cut, score and peel the surface of the plate. Bring a photograph, drawing or sketch of a Dancing Monster you would like to turn into a trading card. If it’s not “your” monster, it is good practice to ask permission from the monster or host first. After the workshop you’ll have a chance to trade cards with other workshop participants. We’ll also have some special Rakali trading cards from last year’s parade to trade as well. If trading cards do not excite you or your monster (for whatever reasons), you are also welcome to take your prints home to keep or gift. All ages welcome. Children should be accompanied by an adult. We will also have an alternative non-sharp and non-scratchy printmaking technique to explore and play with. 💚This workshop is supported by the Suzanne Elliott Charitable Trust and .au/ Bookings are, however, essential as places are limited. Email [email protected] to book. ------------------------------------------- The workshop is facilitated by Aisha Sultan. Aisha is a local (aspiring) printmaker who is very fond of experimenting and doing and creating things together as a community. ------------------------------------------- The workshop takes place on the Traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise that sovereignty of this land was never ceded. @ajmsultan #dancingmonsters #printmaking #qthub #tradingcards #dancingmonsterscommunityparade

I copied this from the Dancing Monster FB page, just in case you guys are not on there😊. We are living through great changes, and sometimes you just have to bundle the terror and wonder of it all into festive madness! The Annual Dancing Monsters Community parade is back, inviting all to express a creative connection to the Port Adelaide/Yerta Bulti River and her inhabitants🐬 As a parading Monster, you can mask the human face, and adorn yourself for the parade. Musicians and spectators are also encouraged to be part of the event. Dance with a mask, play an instrument, sing, scream wildly, or just come and witness our only annual Monster parade. The parade will leave from the Port Adelaide Visitor Information Centre at 7.30pm, travel along the river, and end at the Waterside Workers Federation Hall, where the rumpus can continue with more percussion and then DJ Spinster. Also: 👹 This year, we’ll include a homage to the Stingray, who along with so many other inhabitants of the river and sea, has been badly affected by the Algae. 👹 There will be Monster workshops in the weeks leading to event. 👹 Follow the Dancing Monsters Facebook page for updates and more information. 💚The 2026 Dancing Monsters Community Parade is proudly supported by grants via the Suzanne Elliott Charitable Trust and @CityofPAE 💚

Thanks to @adelaidebikekitchen for asking us along for their return from the Halloween Party Ride this year. We wore flowers for the season, and none of the monsters ate any children, not even the Bunyip. It feels like a regenerative time of year, the birds are singing and people were openly frolicking in the park with us. Thanks also to all the crew who came to drum and dance with us, this is a beautiful kind of community service. 👹❤️ Photos: @sunwkng #beltaneinthesouthernhemisphere #halloween2025 #dancingmonsters #bunyip #adelaidebikekitchen #plant4

Here's some gorgeous pics taken at the #semaphoremusicfestival by @markharmansmith , really capturing the beautiful community vibe on the day. Monsters and community go so well together, especially at seasonal celebrations like Halloween (Samhain but it's probably better to think of it as Beltane in the Southern Hemisphere). We'll be doing our Monster thing the Park next to Plant 4 to welcome @adelaidebikekitchen back from their Halloween ride this Friday around 8pm. Come along and join in, let us know if you'd like a drum or something weird to put on your head. 👹❤️🎃 #monsterparade #dancingmonsters

The magic is not behind the mask. When we dance as Monsters, the best magic is not coming from who we are as human people. Masking takes us somewhere else. It reminds us, and the enchanted/baffled/embarrassed/delighted people we encounter, that we, all of us, are part of the more than human world. All the shapes and iterations in the universe. We can't live this in every moment, there lies madness and enlightenment, but we can create special spaces where our human identities are not primary. We have always needed this, but began to disinherit these spaces through the development of human centred ideologies hundreds of years ago, to the point where the discussion revolves mostly around human worthiness and identity. Bad human, good human, put down your faces. There is a time for getting lost. Let's do it joyously! #dancingmonsters #morethanhuman #māsk #magic #parade #posthuman
