Not long ago, @hellohornet reached 50k followers and wanted to celebrate. I was asked to craft a short, 2 second clip following a simple prompt: have fun. The only rules were to follow the type animation that was handed out to every artist who participated.
I thought of a character who’s working toward a similar milestone, and they also really like plants.
Its little projects like these that keep the good times rolling, I look forward to the next one ❤️

✨ New Passion Project ✨
A while back, I took a creative development week to hone in on skills and develop new ones. And as a result, I made some wheels.
I had been wanting to try something a little different, aesthetically, and also try an idea that could push my technical abilities. I started by hard modeling the tires, then UVing them, then building the shaders. Once I had the tires I wanted, I designed bespoke environments for them to live within.
This was extremely fun (and beneficial) and I’m grateful to @hellohornet for letting me take a week off to practice and refine my skill set 🙏

About 7 or so months ago, I was sitting at my desk and I had an idea for a new project. The idea was a relatively simple one. I wanted to recreate everyday tasks on Windows in a stylized way. The tasks I recreated were tasks that were personal to me and my workflow.
Basically, if Windows was a playground and all the programs that I used daily were characters in the playground, what would that look like?
First, I needed to define the overall story - which, again, just followed my day to day as a designer and animator.
Then, I needed to define the aesthetic, which was a reduced, minimalist, albeit stylized direction - one that was colorful and friendly and indicative of the programs I use.
Each piece of software I use is important and serves a huge function in my day to day. But of course, as a 3D designer, C4D is the center of my universe. This is why it gets something a bit special :)
And lastly, I needed to pick a song that could represent the best part of my workday - listening to music while I do my job that pays my bills :)
This is the first big project I’ve completed since college, where I handled every single aspect of the visuals, even including some sound effects (I’m the voices you hear 😊)
I’m very fortunate to have the ability and the time to be able to dedicate my nights to passion projects like this. There’s nothing more satisfying than completing something that you poured your heart into for so long.
I need to give a huge shoutout to @sully_the_guy for his masterful sound design in the first half of this video, his sounds really helped my characters come to life. The second half is a nice and bouncy song by Fred again.., Skrillex, and Four Tet called “Baby Again..”

Not too long ago, I dreamt up a place I’d like to go to and relax. A place that could potentially serve as an escape from reality while still feeling grounded and realistic.
I’ve been developing (or at least trying to develop) a certain style that I could call my own - and I’m finally feeling like I’m getting closer to realizing it.
I started my whole design journey studying spaces and structures, not graphics and animation. This helped me to think logically about certain tasks but held me back in a realm that craved something a bit more surreal. Slowly, I started toward a more stylized, “cartoony” style. Well, eventually, I found myself incorporating a more grounded, structural aesthetic into my more stylized pieces and this is where I ended up.
I was really inspired by Hereditary and the use of miniatures in that film. So, I set out to craft my own miniature space. The proportions are a bit off, a bit funky, and that all serves a purpose.
As I move forward and continue to develop my craft, I hope to uncover more fascinating bits as I try and merge styles together in my own way :)

Lately, I’ve been craving something a little different. I set out to practice lighting and composition and felt that architectural scenes could be a great way to do that.
I’ve always been intrigued by brutalist architecture, so I designed a slight homage to the style :)
I’ll be dropping some more interior/exterior shots soon as I cleanse my palette and focus on learning.
