Barn Sour Comix Newspaper is now available at @_common_objects down in the Belltown neighborhood in downtown Seattle, Wa. Check them out, they have tons of badass comix and zines from local creators!!

Nhớ Nhà is Vân Vũ’s and Nhi Vo’s exploration into their cultural identity as Viet people. Vũ experiments with fiber illustration and working with textile beyond making garments. Using mostly upcycled materials Vũ explores themes of anti imperialism and women in Vietnamese culture. Works include recreation of Vietnamese propaganda posters and photographs that they took in Vietnam. Vo tries to navigate and reclaim her heritage by making ceramic sculptures that honor Vietnamese cuisine and cultural practices. Here in the US, immigrants are often expected to assimilate and be digested into white American culture. But Vo’s work counters those expectations, and instead offers a celebration of Viet identity. See their brilliant show at Common Objects until May 1st. Gallery hours: Wed - Fri, 3-6pm Sat, 10am - 3pm

Excited to announce our next Salonshop, and for National Poetry Month, our special guest will be @mayorofseattle Katie Wilson! Mayor Wilson and Seattle Civic Poet @dujietahat will closely read poems as well as pending legislation, followed by a discussion about how and what it means to produce and interpret language in the public sphere.
