Arts news, in two parts: Colorado’s first-of-its-kind law allowing artists to form corporations has been passed by the full General Assembly and now awaits Gov. @jaredpolis ’ signature. So, what’s next? A whole lot of figuring things out. What kind of artist is this most meant to benefit? Here to help. And from my understanding, if you’re a band (like Horse Bitch @horsebitch_____ ), a commercial artist (like @detour303 or @patmilbery ), or a maker of collaborative stories (like @controlgroupproductions ), you owe it to yourself to check it out.
And, the roundup: Boulder Museum Of Contemporary Art @bmoca names new artistic director … The @railbenders christen newest Soiled Dove in Cherry Creek (with video) … Arts economy impact in Colorado Springs … Bright Eyes’ @brighteyesofficial monumental rant at @redrocksco … Candy Brown @candy.brown.90260 goes to Washington … Jessi Whitten @itsjessiwhitten comes home to @indie1023 . … @langhorneslim drops in on @goosetowntavernbbq . That and more in the @denvergazette .

Colorado just made history for artists! The General Assembly just passed SB26-133 Colorado Artist Company Act, co-sponsored by Senators Bridges and Catlin and Reps Martinez and Taggart, on the last day of the legislative session. This bill is now off to Governor Polis for signature! Upon the Governor’s signature, Colorado will become the first state in the nation to develop a new type of business entity just for artists and creative enterprises. Thanks to everyone who advocated for this bill! Stay tuned for more information about the bill signing, roll-out and implementation process. This committee hearing is a critical step in order to pass this bill before the end of the legislative session on May 13. SB26-133 is a first-in-the-nation bill that would empower and benefit artists. It offers a blueprint to create a business that provides greater protection, access to capital, and collaboration for artists of all kinds.

Honoring vision, community, and culture ✨
Our founder, Dr. Bala Thiagarajan @artbybala received the 2026 Cultural Leadership Award from @_cbca_ - a recognition that truly reflects the depth of her work as an artist, leader, and community builder.
Beyond her studio practice, Bala has been deeply committed to building spaces where South Asian artists feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Through founding C-SAAG in 2025, she has worked to foster connection, increase visibility, and advocate for stronger representation in the Colorado arts ecosystem. Centering stories from within the culture, on our own terms.
From exhibitions, professional development, to supporting the Governor’s first Diwali celebration, her vision continues to bring people together and create meaningful opportunities for artists.
Grateful for her leadership and everything she continues to build ✨
