Yesterday was Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives day. A crisis that is not new but has been occuring for the past 500 years. Today the bus and the 250/150 team is on its way to Ignacio for the prayer walk/run. If you won't make it to Ignacio, please take a moment to research how you can take part during the MMIWR Week of Action.

Say hello to our next artist in residence.
Congratulations to Angel Miguel Garcia — recipient of our Summer 2026 Home Studio Residency!
Angel is a Nigerian and Mexican playwright, musician and actor based in Denver. Their work often highlights the beauty and mysticism that live within queer and trans walks of life. Unafraid to challenge the boundaries of theatre, the subversive and interdisciplinary nature of their work reclaims narrative through a lens that is as playful as it is provocative. This summer, we’re honored to offer our space to ‘Grita Mi Negrita’ — a bilingual movement-musical where a spiritual retreat to Mexico spirals into a surreal reckoning with ancestry, colonization, and unearthing the power of one’s grito. Follow @an.anointed.angel and @controlgroupproductions to see the process in action🌿✨ #newwork #homeresidency #controlgroupproductions #bilingualmusical

‘STONO’ is leveling up. T. Carlis Roberts has spent over five years crafting this piece — and the staged reading made it clear: the performance was stunning and this work is ready to evolve. If you missed the free reading during our last residency, don’t worry — this story isn’t done yet. ‘STONO’ is moving into full production as part of our Guest Artist Producing Initiative, where Control Group brings exceptional work from development to the stage. This is exactly what our Open Call and GAP Initiative were built for: a true pipeline from draft to full realization. We couldn’t be more proud of T. Carlis and the entire creative team. And tomorrow? We announce our next artist in residence — a local artist bringing a bilingual movement-musical to life. Stay tuned. ✨ 🎥: Mona de Amor #stono #artistresidency #controlgroupproductions #blacktheatre #denvertheatre

250 years. 150 years. And a truth we haven't fully faced yet. We couldn't have asked for a better preview of 'The Truth About 250-150' - community, healing, and a beautiful breeze off of Sloan's Lake. This somatic exhibition invites us to face what this country was built on — the continuing violence and genocide of Native people and land. It is not easy, but it is necessary. To the artists who brought this work to life with such intention and care — thank you. What you've created holds space for all of us. 'The Truth About 250-150' will be touring Colorado all summer with it's grand opening May 9th, at Sky Ute Casino Conference Center in Ignacio at the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Day of Prayer. Come find us. Come heal together. Link in bio for tour info. *If you're interested in hosting the exhibition in your area, head to our website to apply. "We want to show that truth and healing can exist in the same space." — Dr. Terri Bissonnette, Indian Country Today Congratulations to the Wakáška Yuza (@nativeyouthleaders ) team on being featured in Indian Country Today (@indiancountrytoday ) — with an article and video highlighting their work on 'The Truth About 250-150'. As Colorado marks its 150th anniversary and the nation its 250th, this Indigenous-led project challenges the official narratives around both milestones. Control Group Productions is proud to put the Breathing Healing Bus in service supporting Native truth-telling across the state. Join us this Friday, April 24th at Sloan's Lake Park from 4:30–7pm for a free public preview of 'The Truth About 250-150'. Read the full article and RSVP to the preview via the link in our bio — and don't miss this one. This is the only Denver showing currently on the calendar! #TruthAbout250150 #IndigenousLed #NativeTruth #IndigenousColorado #IndigenousArt #CommunityHealing

Denver — you’re getting a first look. Join us at Sloan’s Lake Park on April 24, 4:30–7pm for a free public preview of ‘The Truth About 250-150’ — an Indigenous-led mobile museum experience bringing truth-telling, youth-created art, and community healing to public spaces across Colorado, aboard Control Group’s Breathing Healing Bus. Meet the artists, experience the exhibit, and be among the first to see it before its Grand Opening in Ignacio on May 9th. ‘The Truth About 250-150’ was created by Denver-area organizations Wakáška Yuza (@nativeyouthleaders ) and Control Group Productions as a truth-telling intervention — challenging official state narratives around Colorado’s 150th anniversary and the nation’s 250th. Free and open to the public. South side central parking lot, Sloan’s Lake Park. Link in bio to RSVP (not necessary but appreciated!) We’ll see you there.

To our ‘Red Willow’ audiences — thank you for showing up. At the core of this show was a call to come together: to heal, to step into action, and to defend the world we love and hold dear. We provided a ritual — and now it’s time to step into individual and communal action. Whether you joined us or are sad you missed it, you are invited to the wake of ‘Red Willow’ this Friday, 4/10, from 6–8 PM at our studio in Lakewood. A community gathering to celebrate this production with an informal potluck — an opportunity to connect with the artists, reflect on the project, and build community over a shared meal. Free to attend. Link in bio to RSVP.
