Cadena is a Portland-based post-club producer, DJ and art installation project. Since 2023, from the Fantasia EP to their debut album, Pray For Me in 2025, they have cultivated a distinct sound marrying the subtle sensibilities of pop songwriting with sound design equal parts hellish and exultant.
Theirs is a sound of smothered operatics, a particular ontology of ecstasy that is always subsurface, extremes of passion suppressed, swaddled and sung like out of disregarded tunnels. One sound of Cadena is typified by this seemingly contradictory incredibility. The aesthetic of the sound is aestheticized in no way other than the sound. There is no reliance on shock or tricks of winking whimsy. No generic virtuosity rendering derelict the virtuoso. Instead an ongoing utilization of a particular aesthetic of sound - a wall where melodic tones are forced to a volume where they shimmer & are compressed into noise, buried, bounding drums and voices filtered, vaguely lisped. No bellowing low-end, no vocal, no serene arpeggio is allowed respiratory room. Cadena writes and produces music that distils euphoria in its actuality - its dizzying anxiety where loss always borders, its intellective chaos, a particular atmosphere where self-discovery and the loss of self orbit the other inextricably, an eye each of the same face. From there comes too a voice that is rare for its perfervid honesty.
Cadena’s Realist mix finds them uncovering each side of their sound. An affinity for trance is evident. Present are the discordant tones of electroacoustics and the abyssal spatiality of chamber music. Deconstructed club’s ambiguous deportment - squall and rigidity. GŐZKABIN’s BREAK FREE in its exceptional, stammering majesty arrives late on. As song, as title, as sonic environment, it seems an analogy for the mix at large. To present emotion in its difficult ambivalence, to work always against restraint.

@_cadena___ is a Post-Club and installation art project, making dreams & nightmares come to life. They’ve shared the stage with artists including Chuquimamani-Condori, 7038634357, Raiika and Meat Computer as well as being featured on platforms such as Trauma Unit. Cadena stands as a collaborative project which gave rise to their work with KAVARI, Snakehouse, SUTA and many others. Their 2023 “Fantasia” EP established their presence, and led to the development of their debut album “Pray For Me” in 2025.
@sauloviduct is a mixed media sculptor and DJ, primarily exploring the intersection between abjection, embodiment, pain and pleasure in sound and flesh. Saul often sources inspiration from his work as a PhD researcher in cognitive neuroscience, incorporating both critiques and explorations of empiricism/research institutions and their impacts on individual identity.

015: Cadena
Cadena is a Portland-based electronic artist whose work moves gently between pop songwriting and harder club forms. Her tracks are guided by voice and feeling, allowing moments of fragility to sit alongside pressure and weight, shaped by an instinct that knows when to push and when to hold.
Her solo releases show the full scope of that range. The EP Fantasia lives at the crossroads of hardstyle and trance, threaded with darker, witch house–leaning tones. Its standout track, “Neblina Mía,” hits with real force — emotional urgency locked into a high-pressure frame, where feeling arrives through impact and density. On the other end of the spectrum, her debut album Pray for Me leans into a more intimate space, giving melody room to breathe while keeping her emotional voice close and clear.
Collaboration is a natural part of Cadena’s practice. Working with artists like Xec, SHEMYYY, and SUTA, she opens her sound to other voices and textures without losing its core. Her collaborative piece with Ecovoron, “Red Tracks,” captures this especially clearly — a sincere exchange where emotion and structure move side by side.
For Beats&Bliss, Cadena brings a mix that reflects this balance beautifully. Club-ready moments sit beside quieter, inward passages, connected by a flow that feels intuitive and unforced. We’re happy to close our 2025 season with this work — a set that feels close and lived-in.

Cadena is the project of Emme Quintero, now based in Portland, OR.
Their roots go back to their first event organization in 2018, “Hylic Merit”, which booked artists such as Hiroshi Hasegawa (C.C.C.C), Sissy Spacek, Doormouse, and more across Texas. After going on hiatus from event organization and focusing on production, Cadena was born. This led to musical collaborations with artists including KAVARI, Manapool, Ecovoron, moth.sanctuary, and performances on lineups including Elysia Crampton, 703, Meat Computer, Raiika and more. Cadena recently toured the West Coast of the US, and independently released their debut album “Pray For Me”.
For this mix, Cadena pulls together sounds that nourish and comfort, skirting the line between intimacy, catharsis and acceptance. In their own words: “This is how I feel, if you do too, I hope this helps you feel less alone”.
