GL is unfortunately full atm so can't share more, sorry! - Times Renate opens from 2300 & our floor opens from 0100 to 0800 - Guidelines: Everyone is welcome to share our dance floor, we just asking you to be mindful of what we're working to build & for who. (RA tickets in bio) With a lovely launch in London this past Sunday (much love to everyone who made it happen!), gears now shift to Berlin for a special dance on Feb 14. We're linking up with our @birdhouse.berlin fam who kindly invited us to curate a @renate.berlin Klubnacht takeover with them. @_black.is will host the Secret Floor, inviting two dear friends: the homie @ghostpoet , a regular feature for us who truly embodies what it's this project is all about, as well dear @neddasou , esteemed dj, dancer & teacher at Amsterdam's @foundation.nl & founder of @thenarrative.now , who will be joining us from Amsterdam. As 'Black Is...' enters its 3rd year here in Berlin where the focus was exclusively on local artists, a major goal for me moving forward this year is to continue showcasing locals as well as connecting & inviting crews who align with our values & showcase BIPOC artists, from Europe & beyond, to join us in dances here, to foster shared experiences, build stronger networks as well opportunities for artists we support between our various cities. Nedda's work with The Foundation & the Narrative is a perfect representation of that, so I'm very happy that she's going to be our first guest from abroad. See you on the dance floor 🪩

(London launch / RA tickets in our bio link) The first 'Black Is...' in London, feels very surreal to do this, in a city I've been visiting since 2008. So many moments in this city. To be laying the foundation for this project there means so much, grateful for @fillybrook for hosting us & for @dreymayele & @_sanoy for joining me (Sanoy one of the very first ppl to reach out to me when this project was at its infancy). Sunday Daytime vibes in the backroom, super intimate dance floor with a kick ass Soundsystem. We're keeping this ultra cheap (£5), cause we need more affordable dances in this world. The lovely @discotehran.nyc crew invited us to curate Room 2 for their upcoming Berlin party over at @clubgretchen , which gave me the opportunity to invite two DJs that have been my list for a while: @mahitamusic & @s.t3v As always: skipping the tedious bios & letting the music speak for itself, with our guests sharing a track each that defines dance floors for them. Got a handful of gl spots left, if you're struggling financially please lmk & we'll sort you out. PS. I want to add my own personal 2 cents here: Like many I was disappointed with how Gretchen handled the situation earlier this summer with The Murder Capital. It was a massive fuck it. It took a while for them to address the matter properly, which they did, & what was left to see if this was going to be a learning moment. I've had multiple conversations about how they are working to improve, & I'm confident that they in fact have done & continue to do so, hence 'Black Is...' joining in this collab, & I wanna say I really value how open both them & Disco Tehran have been in communication. It's important to have honest conversations & hold each other accountable within our community, because we will inevitably fuck up at some point & in some way. Independent spaces supporting the arts & run by good folks are very rare in this timeline, & we need to afford them some grace when they slip up, as long they own up to it & work towards doing better. This obviously extends to everyone in general, cause all we've got is each other. Come move & let's hopefully shake off some of the things that are weighing us all down.

Back this coming Tuesday with another monthly edition of the Link Up! over at @90mil___ . Exclusively an BIPOC open decks invite to play music that suits a relaxed hang, but all are welcome to share the space & enjoy the sounds. Food will be available free of charge, vegan / vegetarian wraps. Entry is donation based, & any contributions made will be directed towards @sudanese_american_physicians urgent relief fund for Sudan , a cause that remains completely ignored by the world. Let's create bright moments together.
