Merci mil gracias family for donating to our VPN project for the people in Iran. We have spent the 1st batch of donations on purchasing yearly bulk licences for people in the county(slide # 2) In Iran, internet is severely restricted to keep people disconnected from each other & the world so that the voice of the movement is not heard. Since September, we have been spending money out of pocket to connect & trouble shoot for +250 people in Iran, without your help we couldn’t have continued this project. Now we can connect more people and focus on communities that need it the most. You can donate to our project through our Venmo @ disco-tehran Please do not use Tehran or Iran in transaction notes as it will flag and block your transfer & our accounts. Please share with all your networks, thank you for your love, trust, and support. WOMAN. LIFE. FREEDOM 💚🤍❤️‍🩹 ••• 🔥Poster is by @innerjalz 🔥 ••• #womanlifefreedom #iran #mahsaamini

Images from another time in Iran. Behind the headlines, politics, and the news cycle is a vast country filled with diverse people and stories too often overlooked. Our dear friend @sarahpannell has spent years documenting Iran and its people. The result is “Well Come” a title inspired by a common misspelling found in Iranian places making a genuine effort to welcome the foreigners who find themselves there. These images show a country of warm people who have had to endure decades of political repression and violence, sanctions, isolation, censorship, and war. Burdens that no people should have to carry. Despite it all we continue to love and be welcoming of others… ••• All our gatherings are born from the same belief in global human connection. See you at our parties in NYC, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Paris, and more. Link in our bio! 💚🤍❤️ ••• #discotehran #photography #iran #travel #explorerpage

Images from a different time in our country…Iran beyond the headlines, politics, and the news cycle is a vast country filled with diverse people and stories too often overlooked. Our dear friend @sarahpannell spent years from 2016 to 2019 documenting Iran and its people. The result is “Well Come” a title inspired by the common misspelling found in Iranian spots making a genuine effort to welcome the foreigners who find themselves there. Sarah sent us this video, and maybe if we’re lucky we’ll get to experience the slideshow soon. Stay tuned! See you at our parties in NYC, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Paris, and more. Tickets in bio where you’ll find our newsletter for early access to discounted entries 💚🤍❤️ ••• #iran #discotehran #danceparty #travel #explorepage

In Rome, we sat down with @variety to mark the end of our Nowrouz tour and reflect on years of global community building across NYC, Paris, London, Berlin, Rome, Mexico and more through Disco Tehran, Cinema Tehran, and Studio Tehran. In the middle of war, division, and repression we build spaces celebrating humanity & cross cultural solidarity inviting people to come together through music, cinema, and dance. This project has always been a multicultural labor of love, independent, community funded, and powered only by you. Beyond the parties and screenings, our events also helped support VPN access for people in Iran navigating internet shutdowns and censorship. Merci mil gracias family for carrying this with us from city to city. Our next tour dates in NYC, Paris, Berlin, Oslo, and more are available through our newsletter and the link in bio. 💚🤍❤️ ••• A very special thanks to Nick Vivareli for the article, @metrograph ‘s @bitterstranger for curation of “Travel Companions” (celebrating Bahram Beyzayi & Amir Naderi) - photos @byruvan & @ounissa_zermani ••• #discotehran #cinematehran #cinema #explorepage #global

In a world that often reduces Iranian lives, especially the people and minorities of Southern Iran, Hormuz, and Qeshm to mere statistics, we hold these images close. We warm our hearts to these gorgeous photos by Romanian filmmaker (and our dear family) @vladpetri Vlad has spent years learning and creating work about the rich cultures and histories of Iran and speaks Persian beautifully. These are his photos from a trip to Hormuz and Qeshm Islands in January 2018. Share it if you love it! 💚🤍❤️🌍 ••• #nowar #iran #persiangulf #straitofhormuz #travel

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Here are three views and the pathway to Khaled Nabi Shrine in Golestan region of Iran. According to oral tradition of the Yomut Turkman people of Iran, Khaled was a pre-Islamic mystic & prophet living sometime in the 3rd to the 6th century. His mausoleum is a destination for pilgrimage. Women visitors, in search of blessings for their welfare, are known to tie ribbons on trees near the tomb, merging ancient traditions with contemporary practices of pilgrimage. Iran’s rich nature & history is filled with wonders like this. We hope that this day brings the people of this planet closer and more curious about each other and the finite moments we have on our vast and unique Mother Earth. May we treat our only home the best, may peace prevail in our world. ••• #iran #peace #nowar #earthday

On one of the darkest days in contemporary Iranian history, we’d like to wish everyone a happy Sizdah be-dar. This ancient Iranian festival marks the end of Nowrouz celebrations. On the 13th day of Nowrouz, we go out into the nature and we untie the Sabzeh (the green sprouts on Haft Seen table) as a symbol of our wishes for a good year without heartache and difficulties. This is a symbol of hope we deeply need today. Sizdah be-dar is also the day of respect for Mother Nature. We like to use this opportunity to remind everyone that we have only one planet. War is an evil that once unleashed will destroy everything on its path. We will not survive without protecting the environment, and the indigenous communities that protect us around the world. ••• Photos taken in 1890, 1958, 1972, 1999, and 2023 in Iran Credits belong to @fardid_khadem archives, Hengameh Fahimi, Ata Kenare, Sevruguin, Bruno Barbey, last photographer unknown ••• #iran #spring #nowrouz #womanlifefreedom #tehran
