📚 Excited that our publication "Echoed Scenery" will be showcased at @kg_photobookfair this weekend 9-10 May 2026 *** The set of three publications are a culmination of an ongoing photographic dialogue between South Korean artist Anbuh @_anbuh @from_anbuh_to and Bulgarian artist Vera Hadzhiyska. @verahadzhiyska . Together they explore cultural exchange, memory, and shared visual language between Bulgaria and South Korea. The publication combines existing and new work across two interconnected series —Silent Dialogues and Echoed Scenery. Through parallel visual narratives shaped by their everyday surroundings, the artists explore how familiarity, nostalgia, and photography itself can bridge geographical and cultural distance. The publication comprises 1. the original Silent Dialogues photographic collaboration (2024); 2. the new Echoed Scenery photo dialogue (2025); and 3. a written essay by South Korean writer and publisher Boa Song @litlsongs offering an interpretative reflection on the artists’ collaborative methodology and visual exchange (2026). Developed through a live exchange of images during the summer of 2025, the project unfolds as a visual dialogue between Bulgaria and South Korea, shaped by distance, time, and shared attentiveness to the everyday. Photographs were sent back and forth in real time, allowing each artist to respond intuitively to the other’s imagery, forming a thoughtful conversation between two distant landscapes. The project traces how places linger - how light, textures, and fleeting moments recur across geographies, carrying memory and emotional weight. Scenes begin to echo one another, not through likeness alone, but through feeling: a shared stillness, a sense of familiarity, a recognition without origin. In these repetitions, scenery becomes less about location and more about resonance. Echoed Scenery reflects on photography as a space where distance collapses. Together we explore cultural exchange, memory, and shared visual language between Bulgaria and South Korea. The project is currently on view at GBlue Gallery, Seoul, South Korea, 13–29 March 2026 @gblue_gallery The images featured here are from Silent Dialogues — the first chapter of our collaboration. Silent Dialogues brings together photographs from my neighbourhood in Bulgaria and Anbuh’s images from the areas where he lives and works in South Korea. Through a seamless visual dialogue, we explore memory, time, nostalgia, loss, change, and the state of human existence. By placing our images side by side, we invite questions about difference and similarity between cultures. We are often more alike than we imagine. Even countries 8,000 km apart can feel unexpectedly close. The project was first conceived for Photo Fringe 2024 @photofringe and exhibited at Aspex Portsmouth @aspexportsmout in the UK. My series Night Walks traces my return to my childhood neighbourhood in Bulgaria after more than 10 years as a migrant. Walking familiar streets at night becomes a journey through memory and present reality - a bittersweet homecoming where once-intimate spaces feel subtly estranged. Anbuh’s work, created during the Covid-19 pandemic in Seoul, reflects on loss and transformation. Photographing his immediate surroundings, he captures the quiet shifts brought by the pandemic, a meditation on impermanence and the fragility of what once felt stable. Despite different contexts, our works meet on shared emotional ground.
