Mum 💔 18.12.25 We said goodbye to our incredible Mum this week. She’d had an immensely tough 6 months, but battled with her signature courage and kindness to the end. She was smart, so funny and had just the right amount of fire. And a helluva smile. What a void. Love to anyone else on here who had an empty seat this Christmas. And so much thanks to @mariecurieuk who helped us through the final days.

Three years ago today Putin’s Russia invaded Ukraine. Here is the first of three introductions to Ukrainian civilians who have been fighting for freedom ever since. This is KALYPSŌ, commander of ’THE WITCHES OF BUCHA’ - an all-female volunteer unit helping defend the skies over Kyiv. They work 24hr shifts, using recommissioned WW2 machine guns to shoot down state of the art Russian-deployed Shahed drones. Just one of the incredible and inspirational people I have met on this project. All love and thanks to everyone in Ukraine who made this with us 🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧 Cast: KALYPSŌ MITYA @mitya_skater EUGENE @eugenelata Client: @ministryofdefence Agency: FCB @fcbldn Creative Partner / ECD: Al Young CD: @alexdunningdirector Producer: @daidavison Senior Business Director: Emily Whiteaway Senior Account Director: Mikey Freeman Production: @starling_film Production Ukraine: @radioaktivefilm EP: Charlie Stanfield @starling_film Director: @__fred EP: @kate.galytska Producer: Vika Dubytska @madjunehare Casting: @katiemoriartyhopper @alladryjack @_nikosnikos_ Archive: @ssolodko Adam Wakeham Jackie McCoy 1st AD: @mykola.perestiuk DP: @chikunia + @kyrylo_piddubnyi PM: @100percenthypocrite Location Manager: Oleksiy Gordiichuk Focus Puller: Serhii Sardudinov 2nd AC: Vitaliy Topchiy Steadicam: Anton Lukashenko Gaffer: @leonidsidor Spark: Andriy Gorovyi Sound: Andrii Vaskovsky Storyboards: @thelifeoftotti Playback: Oleksander Moroz Data Wrangler: Max Sukhov Runner: Tolik Koval Edit: Gary Forrester @tenthree_editing Producer: @rachelgoodger Assistant Editor: @merelmilous Composer: @jamesocmusic Grade: @vicparkercolour Online: @ark_studios_global Sound Design: Paul Darling Also 🙏 @marcushaney and @michaelevansfilms for the advice. Wouldn’t normally post something like this - but do so as a) it’s greatly appreciated - and b) as all in this game will know, films like this take a lot of time and trust - most importantly from those on-screen. Feel very lucky to have learnt from all those who took part in this film (a few featured here). Thanks to all who have watched so far. It’s available for two more days on the Channel 4 website. If you have any interest in the human cost of our failing justice system, please watch.

My new feature doc London Bridge: Facing Terror is released on Channel 4 tonight. The start point of the film is the story of the four lives that converged during the London Bridge attack in November 2019 (that involved the narwhal tusks). Whilst looking like a clearcut case of good Vs evil, the narrative suddenly began to shift when the histories of the individuals who courageously confronted the attacker were revealed. For each of the four men had a history of violence. And those encounters in childhood directly lead to a set of lives lived on both sides of the justice line. Through humanising criminality, the film looks at how our society views people with criminal pasts - in order to explore the idea of redemption; past, present and future. — Profound thanks to Darryn Frost (pictured), Steve Gallant, John Crilly, Dave Merritt and all who agreed to be in the film. I started developing this in Oct 2020, pitching it to wonder EP Liesel Evans at Raw six months later. Huge appreciation to Liesel, Sacha Mirtzoeff at C4 - and the film’s incredible editor, Esther Gimenez. And all the team at Raw who supported this, including Rob, Kaylin, Tish, Maan, Haider, Nicky, Piers and many more.
