So grateful that Dirar is able to bring this workshop to Antwerp, I hope you can join us in this collective process(ing). ::::: Wednesday Oct 8, 17-21h. 15-50€ suggested, including a simple meal service. For inscription or questions, please kindly DM @__eggspace or email to [email protected]. ::::: In this workshop, we will be focusing on the relationships between sound, silence, time, and space, and their positions and configurations within multiple layers of everyday life and practice, and in relation to the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Taking off from a multi-layered reading of Memory for Forgetfulness by Mahmoud Darwish and Gazan testimonies; analysing possible relationships among lived experience, the writing of history, events, structures, and language – from writing and narrating the Nakba to the current transformations of time and space in Palestine under the ongoing genocide, not from a theoretical or intellectual position, but from a conscious and committed one. Through listening, thinking, and mapping exercises, we will explore and discuss questions on solidarity, engagement, everyday practice, and activism. ::::: Dirar Kalash is a Palestinian musician and sound artist whose work spans a wide range of musical and sonic practices within a variety of instrumental, compositional and improvisational contexts. He is mostly known for his politically driven soundscape / electro-acoustic project “The Sonic Front”, and the compositions “we can’t breathe (for eric garner, george floyd, and frantz fanon)” and “by any means necessary (for Malcom X)” @dirarkalash

!!NEW DATE!! MONDAY September 8, 20h! The Cradle and Happy Fuji News comes to eggspace! Please kindly rsvp if you can. ::::: 19h: Doors Open! You and your summer stories are welcomed for a slow afternoon, in the company of snacks and sips. 20h: Showtime! Entrance 10euro suggested ::::: Here’s a little more about our friends who will be sharing their songs and stories: ::::: Paco Cathcart / The Cradle Paco Cathcart has been performing and recording music as The Cradle since 2013. Offspring of an American mother and a Colombian father who met in New York City, they are a born and raised first generation New Yorker. Over the past decade or so, they’ve put out a mountain of music, self-released and through various indie labels, that ranges from singer-songwriter style acoustic albums to dubbed-out electro-acoustic experiments to spoken word to drum machine-fueled pop. Cathcart has toured internationally and in the United States extensively, often times traveling by Greyhound and Megabus. Their perspective as a writer is distinctly millennial, distinctly feminist, and deeply rooted in a sense of place- that is, it is New York City music, forever and always.     In May 2025, Cathcart released Down on Them, a full-band record with a stormy and vibrant sound that recalls the kind of high-contrast weather that produces rainbows, and their first album under their own name, on the Brooklyn label Wharf Cat Records. They still live and work in Brooklyn, New York.  @thecradlemusic ::::: Happy Fuji News Happy Fuji News is a live-animated performed movie made out of 200 - 300 woodblock prints, written, carved and printed by Eric Kinny over the course of 2016-2022. Prints are shown and thrown at the rhythm of an audio soundtrack with MIDI guitar music by Raphaël Desmarets, sound effects, and voice acting by McCloud Zicmuse, Siet Phorae, Molly Rex, Ma Clément, Alice Perez & Joey Wright. @eric_kinny

After a long sojourn and even longer pause, eggspace will reopen with a special concert. ::::: Eli Wewentxu Tuesday June 10th Welcome 19:30, Concert 20:00 eggspace Langstraat 105, Antwerp Suggested Entrance: €10 to €15 ::::: In the same vein that we receive, through textile, stories that whisper their interconnection to lands and communities, Eli’s musical practice is driven by a deeply rooted dialogue with his culture and territory. Our dear friend Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė will be joining Eli for a part of the event. ::::: Eli Wewentxu // Mapuche artist from PLC, Gulumapu - Wallmapu, called today south central Chile. He trained as a violinist from an early age. In sound art, he works with improvisation and musical composition with the idea of resignifying listening from a personal narrative linked to his cultural identity and the territory in resistance to which he belongs. He currently lives in his community located in Wallmapu where he works with the land and takes care of animals. Concert: PITXANTU – sound archives, is born from deep listening during different walks through the pitxantu or pitxa forest located in the territory where I live and where my family has lived for many generations in Gulumapu – Wallmapu, Mapuche territory. Field recordings, soundscapes, sound walks, layers of synthesizers, and some melodic lines with bowed string instruments and txompe make up these works, which seek to narrate an internal perception of the constant dialogue with the territory, which in turn perceives and listens to us. Due to the size of our cozy space, please kindly RSVP to [email protected]. Gratefully yours. @wewentxu.eli

Hi, on the 28th of february, we would like to invite you for a death cafe gathering at eggspace to share poems on mourning. Come join us, if you also feel the longing for poetry and a space to nourish our grief. There will be warm drinks and light snacks. Welcome to bring your pantoffels, and drinks or nibbles to share. With Anonymous Poetry sessions we have found in past meetings that they are a v good place to play without authorship and also to play casually with voice/reading aloud. With this session we are curious to explore what anonymity does with grief. How it will work is that you can submit your poem-s/other kind of writing anonymously in the pile in eggspace any time between 6.30–8pm. We will take turns reading each other’s anonymised poetry aloud until all is read. Keep in mind that the meeting will start at 8pm sharp. No names on your poems/writings - utmost secrecy must be sustained/enacted. Writings should be 1-2 pages A4 as a length guideline - if it’s more we might need to only read some of it. You can bring more than one piece but only put one on the pile at first. We can add more if numbers allow. Make sure you bring a print out or other kind of paper copy of your writing. All languages are welcome. Session will be hosted in English. The shop is on the ground floor, but there is a single step (20cm). The width of the entrance door is 180 cm and of the restroom door 77 cm. See you there! @destroya.x @bait.ball @__eggspace

This indigo dyed fabric has a silk weft. It has gone through a sulfur and smoking processing that adds a layer of metallic greenish golden sheen. But this glow is impermanent, at least none I've come across, and prone to fading with sun exposure. It was a wonderful presence in the space over the summer, but it had also completely lost its gold in our south facing space. Yesterday, I pulled it out of the closet for a steam, as it's just as quietly radiant, even without the gold. While steaming, the heat from the steamer must have reacted with the lingering sulfur, and the gold came back to life! What is magic but the reveal of the unseen! A wonder!
