very excited to announce a new monthly radio residency on @radioalhara !!!! this collaboration means the world to me!!!!!
this residency will be an intentional space to develop and archive my research practice focused on African music and its global footprint. so often, the sounds that originate from home remain undocumented and underappreciated, even as their sonic influence vibrates across the world.
a central theme of this work will be exploring the genesis of these sounds as acts of resistance to oppressive forces.
i will be writing more in detail about each episode with some links and references in the 999RADIO substack link in bio !!

I found out about GQOM when I discovered the WOZA TAXI documentary randomly on youtube, this led me to @thinasibathathu show on @orokoradio & I asked him for tracks for the first edition of AFRO RAVE @999heard 3 years ago and he sent me a folder of amazing tunes I still play!! I love the low end, I love bass, I love syncopation and GQOM filled that space in my heart and healed it as well.
