Owning an old convertible car introduces you to a new game called: Wash it with the top down but don't get the interior wet π¬π
Also: Friday June 12th we'll be having a 944 meet here at 944barn! (the day before the @edredas Helen 944 event). I'll make an official post soon but just wanted to get the word out βοΈ
Last week the Nautic blue 88 944 that we resurrected got sold! π It was previously sitting in a Florida garage for 20 years because of a broken clutch.
@buler_944 and I brought it back to life by overhauling the entire fuel system and installing new timing belts and waterpump, rebuilt cylinder head and all new top end gaskets, engine mounts, clutch hydraulic components, and of course a new clutch.
The new owner drove it home to Knoxville so if you live in the Knoxville area keep an eye out for it!
Thanks @b769er we hope you enjoy it!! π
So @peterkaczynski called me the other day, and next thing I know, I've bought the @turtlewax racecar.
It was one of those "the stars aligned" moments, where the timing was just right or it may not have happened.
Long story short: @johnludwickjr swooped in and helped me pick up and transport the cars (YEAH plural, there are actually two cars.. there's always two cars. It's never that simple lol π₯²). We met in PA and I took them home from there. But if it weren't for John's alley-oop on this deal I don't think I could've done it. Thank you John!
And of course, huge thanks to Pete for thinking of me and giving me the opportunity to be this car's next caretaker. Not sure yet what it needs or what to do with it, but getting it back on a racetrack is of course the goal. It's an awesome car and I'm excited to dig in. Thanks Pete! π
Transaxle cars at the PCA Carlisle Porsche Swap Meet!
I sold some parts, bought some parts, and picked up 2 944 racecars! (which I'll post some pictures and info about tomorrow)
Great to see all my customers and friends at this event. I had a great time as always. Already looking forward to next year! π

A few weeks ago I drove out to Birmingham Alabama to pick up these two fine specimens. An 83 944 and an 89 944S2, both pretty roached out (pics make them look nicer than they are in person lol).
Both cars have been sitting for many years and have been attacked by mice, and that one transmission has the most layers of dirt dauber nests we've ever seen. Fun stuff. π₯΄
Both cars are being parted out. Unfortunately they are not worth saving. As always if you need any 944 parts just send us a message! π€

We have been absolutely slammed here this spring trying to keep up with parts orders and shipments. But somehow between it all we've managed to bring this car back to life after it was sitting since 2006... that's 20 years since it last ran! π€―
This is an '88 (higher compression) 944 in Nautic blue metallic (a fairly rare 2-year only color), on a set of machine-polished 16" Gullideckels (sewer lids π³οΈ).
We still have a long list of small things to do, but the short list of big things to do are done! π Front end service (timing belts and waterpump related parts), all new fuel system components, new clutch and clutch hydraulics, new brake pads rotors and brake hoses, engine mounts, etc.
It still needs interior work, some paint work in a few places, AC recharge, etc. If you are interested I can send you a more complete list of needs. As of right now though, the car officially runs and drives quite well.
If anyone is interested in the car as it sits, asking price is $8500. Located in the north Georgia mountains. ποΈ
EDIT: SOLD!!! π

A few photos from The Vintage 2026 π₯
This makes 10 years since Julie and I first attended The Vintage in NC with her M52 E30 and my M20 E21. Every year is a little different and we always have an amazing time. And it was great to see some of our bimmer buddies that we don't get to see often enough! π«Ά

Here's the alleged story on this one... Trust me, it's worth the read π
β’ Original owner won it in a radio station contest in Miami.
β’ He drove it for 22K miles until one day he was arrested.
β’ While incarcerated (for what, I don't know) someone supposedly put sugar in the gas tank (for reasons I don't know) and the car never ran again after that point.
β’ After incarceration, he towed the car from place to place until it sat for the last 15-20 years in a driveway in Miami under a coconut tree.
β’ Supposedly the coconuts would fall on the car and that's what caused the windshield damage and numerous other large dents.
β’ Then eventually he died and the family moved the car to a property in Naples where it has been sitting in a shed for the past 2-3 years (as in the pics).
Ok, SO... 1986 944 Turbo with supposedly 22K miles.. I don't know how much of this whole story is true, but that's the story I got. π« As for me, personally, I think the Miami coconut mafia did it. π
Anyway. This car will be fully parted out. The engine does rotate. But the interior must have got rained in for decades because everything is super crusty. All the electronic knobs and switches are completely seized. But if it's truly got 22K miles then all the drivetrain and suspension components should be in good condition. As always, we will strip everything possible that is worth saving from the car.
If there's any parts you're interested in, send me a DM! π€
A crusty 944S2 cab just got delivered from northern Virginia. It barely runs and is a total mess. How/why do people trash these cars so bad?! π₯²
Anyway instead of fixing it up or parting it out, I've got some more deviant plans. π Will keep you guys posted.
For now here's a few pictures to shake your fist at.
