What an inspirational day visiting an amazing school in South London with @mission44 . I left feeling even more hopeful about the future than ever before.
I had the chance to see how the school is engaging young people in STEM subjects, speak to students about their aspirations, and learn how the school’s inclusive environment is helping them achieve their goals. I also met with Mission 44 partners who are leading the transformative work on the ground.
Too many young people still face barriers in education and don’t feel like they belong in the classroom. That’s why this work matters. There is still work to do, but progress happens when we work together 🙏🏾

A challenging weekend for us. With the contact I was pretty much stuck in no man’s land and couldn’t extract more from the car. Tough to take especially given all the hard work the team has put in, but this won’t define us. It’s how we keep going. We’re taking what we can from these past few days and putting everything else behind us. We move forward.
Even your oldest mates will still surprise you, sometimes it just takes really good questions. When life gets busy, moments together around the table feel extra special.

Back in the dojo 🇯🇵 So unreal to have a lesson with @tetsuroshimaguchi , a legendary samurai artist. He choreographed all the sword fighting scenes in Kill Bill which is mad. One of my favourite films of all time. Our lesson took me way back and reminded me of when I did karate as a little kid. I first started having lessons to help me handle the bullies at school. It did more than teach me to defend myself, it instilled in me discipline, respect and humility. I took lessons every week for seven years and every class began with us kneeling and bowing to our sensei. I did the same yesterday to begin my lesson with Tetsuro.
It’s amazing in life when you have these full circle moments. I didn’t understand why we had to bow when I was younger, but as I’ve grown up and learned to respect the tradition, I came to appreciate the beauty of the gesture. Thank you, Sensei, and thank you Tokyo for the beauty, culture and warm welcome.
