NOHOMO is out on National Coming Out Day, which started in 1988, the year I was born. This image pays homage to Keith Haring's official art for Coming Out Day. Originally this project began as a random set of drawings and clips I created on my Nintendo 3DS late at night when I couldn't sleep. I had no idea what I wanted to do with them but I drew all sorts of things and created folders to house my animations and drawings. Some nights I would take pictures of dicks off the web and decorate them, I also began to draw this lonely little man getting attacked by his penis. Then I put them all in a folder that I named NOHOMO and forgot about it for a few years. At the time I was not very open about my anxiety but it was messing with my sleep and drawing on my 3DS was a great distraction from that. As time passed I began talking about anxiety with friends, it was scary at first but after I started feeling lighter, some even shared their issues with anxiety. Then it clicked with me, it felt like I was coming out all over again. That is when I dug up my silly animations, played with them on after effects, drew more frames and over a short period of time I built some kind of a story. I'm really proud of it and I can't wait to share more with you. So if you have a project taking up space somewhere, this is your reminder to let it out!
