About a month ago I had the opportunity to join
@navajomylo in something out of both of our comfort zones: 400 miles, 20,000 ft of climbing, 60+ miles of washboard/sand/gravel, all on our bikes while carrying camping gear, food, water, and many other supplies.
Oh and sore sit bones.
Often we reflected on why we were doing what we’re were doing.
@navajomylo wanted to do something crazy and difficult help raise money for the future of Native American families and their children. This will fund solar kits for homes, so that kids will have access to power for school resources, light, as well as refrigeration to store healthy foods. If we can do something hard and uncomfortable to make others more comfortable now and for the future, the struggle is worth it.
Through
@heartofamerica and the help of other partners matching donations (
@solvenergy and
@goalzero ), we have raised around $30,000! That’s about 30 homes that will receive power!
It was an absolute blast, and can’t wait to do the route again someday (now with a bit more knowledge 😜).
Also, if you would like to donate to help us reach our goal of powering 50 homes, the link is in my bio!
Shout out to
@fezzari_bicycles for making an incredible road bike! We put the Empire through beating after beating, and it ATE IT ALL UP!
Also
@peakrefuel for food that kept us fueled, and our bikes a bit less heavy. Delicious as always. Thank you for the support ❤️❤️❤️
(This is just one of the many beautiful places we had the opportunity to ride through, and I was smiling and laughing the whole way through it, even if my gear kept flying off my bike haha.
You can see a ttiiiiiiiiny Mylo riding the road of you look closely.)
