🎶 Experience art in a whole new way at Woven Sound — an evening of live, improvised music inspired by the current exhibition, By Hand & Machine at 701 CCA. Led by @engelhardtaustin and an ensemble of incredible musicians, this one-night performance will transform the gallery into a living, breathing collaboration between sound, space, technology, and human connection. As the exhibition explores the relationship between handcraft and machine, this immersive performance invites audiences to experience art collectively — where every note, moment, and interaction becomes part of the work itself. Join us Wednesday, May 13, for this unique fusion of contemporary art and live music. Come experience art — and sound — together. ✨ 📍701 Center for Contemporary Art ⏰ Event details at 701cca.org #701CCA #ColumbiaSC #LiveMusic #ContemporaryArt #ByHandAndMachine Repost from @engelhardtaustin • Coming up soon! Join us on May 13 at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, SC for an evening of live, improvised music inspired by the exhibition “By Hand & Machine.” I’ll be leading an ensemble of incredible musicians as we create music in real time, shaped by the artwork surrounding us. This exhibition explores the space between handcraft and technology. While art is often experienced individually, its meaning is never fixed; it’s shaped by context, environment, and shared presence. This performance transforms that experience into something collective and alive. Come experience art—and sound—together.

What a colorful afternoon at 701 CCA! 🎨✨ Our “Pigment to Paint” workshop with Artist-in-Residence Katelyn Chapman was filled with creativity, curiosity, and hands-on fun as participants learned the fascinating process of making paint from natural pigments. From grinding materials to mixing vibrant colors, everyone got a behind-the-scenes look at the art and history of paintmaking. It was incredible to see people connect through creativity, experiment with new techniques, and leave inspired (and a little more colorful than when they arrived 😉). A huge thank you to Katelyn Chapman for leading such a unique and engaging workshop, and to everyone who joined us for this special experience at 701 CCA! Stay tuned for more upcoming workshops, exhibitions, and events. 🎨💫 Follow 👉 @kschap #701CCA #ColumbiaSCArts #ArtistInResidence #PaintMaking #PigmentToPaint
