700 Feel (@700feel ) joined us for Season XVI, performing from their deeply personal project ‘You Don’t Need To Die To Know Heaven’. Written in the wake of losing their brother, the 16-track collection moves gently between grief and hope—a meditation on what heaven might sound or feel like, not as a distant place, but as something quietly close, held by those we love.
For this performance, Jonny Hawkins and Juan Villamor were joined by Joji Malani @tamachochi (guitar), Matteo Lazaro @laz_arroz_caldo_o (winds), and Benjamin Freeman @_dieyoungs (keys). Together, they shaped an atmosphere that moved with care: ambient sketches, submerged melodies, and spacious rhythms, where each gesture was made with intention.
‘You Don’t Need To Die To Know Heaven’ offers a careful study of grief’s quieter dimensions—holding space for memory, presence, and the ways love endures beyond absence.

‘NIKE SOLDIER’ has been a long time coming, I think 700 Feel and I were already chatting about doing something very early on in me venturing into hip-hop. Like all good things, it teed up at the right time. Some very early bars on Nike mysticism found a home on this frosty beat with good company from my fellow Sydney Gothic, Nerdie.
