A clip from my Three Trapped Tigers: Synths & Keys video now on YouTube, the first of a series reflecting on the band. . This track ‘3’ is from our first EP and is all synths/keys and drums (no guitar). I was trying to get a @sqpusher ‘Big Loada’ vibe with my parts, which were written by playing ideas on the SH101 into Ableton and then further enhancing them with programming/processing for the demo, and then trying to adapt the impossible-to-play results for something I could just about perform live (this was early days in my still-basic keyboard playing!). This got some pretty fun results with all the octave leaps, transpose selector changes, pitch bends and envelope adjustments. . I’ve been on a real quest exploring different synths in the last few years but coming back to this reminds me that whilst gear should be inspiring and can do a lot of heavy lifting, expression comes from musical ideas! . FX are mostly Ableton Saturator and Reverb (although there is a bit of @busycircuits Almicon on there too - one of my favourite digital reverbs and only $10!). . 2024 saw us play our last ever shows. It’s goodbye from us. We’d like to extend a sincere Thank You to everyone who has supported us in any way over the years - listened, come to a show, bought a record, introduced us to a friend, written about us, given us a gig or support slot… there are too many individuals to shout out who have helped along the way but we must give a special mention to Simon Morley ( @simonandonandonandon ), our manager and founder of Blood & Biscuits, the label which released most of our music. Day 5 - It’s taken a while to process playing our final show (ongoing tbh) and indeed, to digest all the awesome fan footage from the night. But here it is, the 3 minute bumper entry to the tour video diary. . It’s been an absolutely amazing week across the UK, with every show being memorable in its own way… but London was always going to be the big one. We are so glad to have given this band the incredible, celebratory send off that this show became thanks to the love we felt from everyone in the room - instead of just fizzling out 5 years ago. I’m sure we will post again about the folding of the band, but for now - thank you to everyone who came to one (or more) of these shows and made it an unforgettable tour. . Mega thanks to LUNNG @sam.slater.music for bringing the glorious noise as support, and the heroic Chris Hamilton who did FOH for both acts every night! .
