St Vincent - Live in London! - OUT NOW 💥 Thanks to @julesbuckleymusic for having me and congratulations to everyone involved. Really went in on the details on these songs and arrangements - lots of snares, electronics, triggers, percussion, orchestral bass drum… full kitchen sink kinda thing! I feel it really comes across thanks to the ridiculously amazing mix from @tomgelissen What a joy to be a part of, please do let me know what you think… hope everyone is well.♥️

Stoked to have played a small part in Florence & The Machine’s NUMBER ONE record, Everybody Scream. 🥇🏆🥇 You can hear my percussion on the “chamber version” of the album. Goat and calf headed drums, very old snares, even older woodblocks and tambourines, bowed vibraphone, home-made bottletop rattles and key chimes I made with my Mum and brother-in-law, gongs and even a timpani that wouldn’t fit in the studio !! 🤣 Super grateful and, again, thanks to maestro @julesbuckleymusic for asking me in and trusting me. ST VINCENT - BBC Proms, Royal Albert Hall 🥁💙🥁 A joy to once again work under the baton of maestro @julesbuckleymusic at the BBC proms, this time for the music of St Vincent. Some amazing arrangements of music I’d been a fan of for some time to get my teeth stuck into. I ended up piecing together a kit that tried to recreate every specific detail of the tones coming from the records. I used 4 snares, an orchestral bass drum, electronic pads and triggers, metallic percussion, different bass drum beaters and mutes/dampening for the drums as well as my very first time using an 18”floor tom, 4legs on it, boooooom! Special thanks to @istanbulagop for supplying me with the new Xist Dry Dark crash, so satisfying. Turk bells used as hi-hats are awesome as are the 30th anniversary mediums. Just the best cymbals out there! Included some of Jules’ hilarious directions which I always love. FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE A Symphony of Lungs - Live at the Royal Albert Hall 🫁🥁🫁 Album is OUT NOW and “Drumming Song” from said album is playing in the background of this selection of photos. Many amazing moments from this gig and hats off, as always, to maestro @julesbuckleymusic Included here are some examples of Jules’ direction which always crack me up 🤣🤣 I put together a fairly unique drum set for this show and tried to cover an extremely wide sonic palette capturing the earthy, natural and medieval tones of @florence I utilised old calf head toms, small snare and concert tom next to the usual kick, snare and regular toms. Vintage tambourines, sizzle splash cymbal and shakers featured alongside brooms, chopsticks and my homemade key ring chimes. @istanbulagop cymbals sounded incredible as ever and I used different models to my usual kind of setup to capture what I needed for the music. 12” Traditional mini hi-hats 10” Xist dry dark hi-hats Clapstack 7” Turk bell 20” 30th anniversary medium ride 17” Xist ION dark crash 18” Trash hit I really enjoyed playing this kit and music with Jules’ kick arse orchestra and choir. More cowbell anyone … ?

In May I was lucky enough to have a visit of the @istanbulagop factory in Istanbul. To see where the cymbals I have been lovingly playing are made was life changing and something I will never forget. I witnessed generations of people pour their heart, sweat, love and soul, for hours a day, into each step of the process from mixing metals, moulding and pressing to lathing and, of course… the hammering. You can see my small attempt here in this video, what an experience! Knowing that this work goes into every cymbal and that each and every one comes handmade from this factory in Turkey to the world is mind blowing. Istanbul Agop are easily making the best cymbals out there and I am completely honoured to be involved with such an amazing team and tradition. A massive thank you to Onur, Sinan, Kevin and all at @istanbulagop and @brdistribution ❤️🇹🇷❤️
