Jon Hopkins Remix > Flume - The Difference (feat. Toro y Moi)
This is one of my favourite Jon Hopkins remixes, and was pleased when Jon wanted to include it in the live shows for 2023. As ever Jon had a very specific vision for how this track should be represented visually, mapping each note of the melody out precisely in a colourful and beautiful organic manner. This led me to finally collaborate with my good friend @destroythingsbeautiful who made an incredible Notch patch that tracked the MIDI notes Jon is playing and allowed us to visualise them in these soft blooms in realtime. I then took this animation from notch and layered with effects and treatments in Final Cut Pro and performed it live with VDMX as part of Jon’s 2023 shows.
Fulfilling the aim to create a tightly synchronised visual representation of the remix that evolves and flows with the dynamics of the track in a hypnotic light poem. @mrjonhopkins@flume@toroymoi@destroythingsbeautiful@bwtvlondon@notchvfx@vidvox@littlebigbooking

Don’t know why I haven’t posted this sooner, but late in 2021 I continued my collaboration with Fred and tracks from Actual Life 2 were performed live for the first time here one night on the banks of the Thames.
We’re now taking many of these tracks out to audiences across Europe and the United States and can’t be happier and prouder of the work. Wonderful working with a rich creative team and the boundless energy and spirit of Fred. Big love and hyped to feel crowds vibe to this powerful and joyous set 🧡

I went into a real trance making this one guyzzzzz. There are a LOT of treats in it I think! This is one of my fav moments mainly jus cos I love the original video of Faisal walking down the street so much! @ifacesoul
Also want to see a BIG shout out to Dan, our visuals brother from day 1 at @2ms_studio
He’s a 1 of 1 in both his talent and his kindness.
I’m always working on stuff behind the scenes, even if not posting too much here. Always stuff going on, one I’m very grateful to have been able to work on is for Australian celebration of Air Max Day working with @spacebetween_@nikesportswear & @supplystore to bring 8 special dj sets to life with custom visuals to celebrate 30 years of that iconic sneaker. With an installation created across 16 screens created in store for the event. Putting myself into a different time zone and working from studio to create and edit these visuals was wild and exhilarating. Humbled to be part of an amazing team at Space Btween and thanks so much to @jana_langhorst for making the intro ☺️ Special shout out to @archives.nia as their tunes featured a lot in the sets and was a great warm up to our shows together this year.

limited edition GOOD LUCK AND DO YOUR BEST - photo prints for sale
https://2ms.studio/shop
I have been friends with Gold Panda for 15 years and have worked together a lot during this time. The peak of our collaborations was his 2016 album GOOD LUCK AND DO YOUR BEST which I created the music videos and live touring visuals for in addition I also worked with Laura Lewis to design the album sleeve and packaging. Laura took the amazing cover image in Japan and it was down to me to come up with imagery for the back of the album and the inner sleeves and centre labels and the typography. I manually laid out the typography letter by letter to emulate the processes used on old records from the sixties, and the inner sleeve photography was all done with defective optical glass cubes to symbolise the AKAI MPC pads that Gold Panda uses in all his music. I set these cubes up in my studio and shone lights and images of nature through the cubes and used a macro lens to capture detailed shots.
In the set of four images from the album, there is also the cover image to the companion EP to the album Kingdom, The photo was taken on our trip to Tokyo in 2016, and from a taxi window as we were late for our eventually missed flight home... but that’s another story
The image was shot in camera using a delayed shutter technique to capture the glitched cityscape.
These prints are 30cm x 30cm - the same size as a vinyl record and have never been published or made available before, once this edition is sold they won’t be reproduced so this is a special opportunity to get them. The first 5 are signed by Gold Panda and Dan Tombs and then the remaining prints will be signed just by Dan Tombs.
Limited prints are €55 each and shipping to you is at cost
Please send an email to [email protected] to place orders and discuss shipping options to where you are, all orders will be packed in strong card record mailers and happy to ship worldwide - will also include some 2MS stickers and happy to personalise the prints too for people.
This is the first of a series of prints I have planned over the next months

RESONANCE 007 is live Wednesday 13.08 📡
Join Llyr in conversation with Dan Tombs – a versatile visual artist who’s collaborated with artists including Jon Hopkins, Fred again.., and Four Tet across intimate venues to arena tours. He’s also worked with musicians and scientists on projects like Hello Moon, Can You Hear Me? – transforming space telescope data into live visuals.
Dan works at the intersection of music, performance and moving image – blending vintage analogue hardware, modular video synthesis, and real-world textures like water, oil, and glass with TouchDesigner to create visuals that respond to and amplify the music.
This is your chance to go behind the scenes with someone who’s shaped visual experiences at Glastonbury, Coachella, Sonar, major stadiums, and Sydney Opera House. Ask your questions live about the creative process, the tech, the touring, the collaborations – whatever you want to know about bringing sound to life visually.
Wednesday 13.08 | 20:00 CEST | 19:00 BST | 14:00 ET | 11:00 PT
