Happy Friday, it's release day! 🎉
Grab the new record in the Wamono series, "Far East New Rock Invention 1969-1975" on @bandcamp (link in bio) and in all good record stores worldwide!
As @junorecords says:
Far East New Rock Invention 1969-1975 pitches the moment Japanese rock slipped its tie and kicked the doors open. Pilfered from Nippon Columbia vaults, this 180g set follows the turn from tidy GS pop into fuzzed-out New Rock heat across the early 70s. Yuya Uchida & The Flowers light the fuse - wah chocks screaming, guitars blown wide - soon feeding a wider circle of players ushering in heavier rock, underground folk and early jazz-rock. Labels like Columbia's Propeller arm began backing the movement, while musicians fresh from the GS circuit looked for rougher ground. The result: loud, exploratory cuts from a scene shaking off industry polish and chasing its own path. Sally Kubota supplies track notes, while Timmion Cutting Lab in Helsinki handles mastering and lacquer cut. A solid crate for anyone curious about Japan's first proper rock blowout. 👉 get your copy at /labels/180g+Japan/
