Civic leaders go to space🚀
Team Hickam Honorary Commanders had the opportunity to visit Ka’ena Point Space Force Station and learn about the remote tracking station of the Satellite Control Network responsible for tracking satellites in orbit, receiving and processing data and enabling control of satellites by relaying commands from control centers.
The Honorary Commander program pairs local civilian leaders with military commanders to foster community ties, educate leaders on Air Force missions and encourage public support. Interested in participating? Email [email protected] for more information!

Ready when it matters most. On standby for Artemis II recovery 🌊🚀
During their return to Earth, the 15th Wing and the @hawaiiairnationalguard were on alert, ready to provide contingency rescue support in the event of a non-nominal splashdown during the Artemis II mission in the Pacific Ocean.
The 10-day Artemis II mission sent four astronauts around the Moon and back safely, marking a critical step in NASA’s return to lunar exploration. The mission concluded with a Pacific Ocean recovery led by NASA and supported by the Department of War. U.S. Space Command provided overarching command and control, while Air Forces Space and First Air Force Detachment 3 coordinated specialized rescue and recovery capabilities. The U.S. Navy executed the at-sea recovery of the Orion capsule and crew, validating the joint force’s ability to support future deep-space missions.

READY TO RESCUE.
Airmen assigned to 204th Airlift Squadron were on high alert ready to provide contingency search and rescue of the Artemis II Orion space craft during launch and reentry April 1 to 10. Two C-17 Globemaster IIIs — one at JBPHH and one at Joint Base Charleston.
The C-17s were fully loaded with specialized rescue equipment, survival craft, and highly trained pararescuemen ready to react at a moment's notice to provide rapid-response contingency rescue and recovery should a non-nominal landing occur. The Artemis II mission is a significant step in NASA's long-term return to the Moon and future missions to Mars.
We’re proud of our 204th AS, TFI Maintenance and Logistics teams from the 154th and 15th Wings. Hawaii No Ka’oi.
