I was first introduced to Pippa Garner @misc.pippa when Aria McManus curated their work into our show at Fisher Parrish @fisherparrish in 2018. The raw and unyielding wit! I couldn’t get enough. It’s always such a devastating blow when we loose an artist - for Pippa there were just so many clever ideas and outrageous inventions we won’t get to see/hear. Glad to have caught their wonderful last show at @matthewbrowngallery @misc.pippa @fisherparrish @ariamcmanus #pippagarner

Feeling a little down on the state of the world? Go see Al Freeman’s @alfreemanjr show at @broadwaygallerynyc . See the humor and beauty of the detritus at your feet and the portrait of our current state it might convey. Love Al. Love her work. And will always appreciate how well she straddles the profoundly personal and universally relatable image all in a soft sculpture.

Such a sweet visit with Brooklyn based artist Jaye Kim @jaye_kim_ this week. Jaye’s recent works play with scale to capture the awkwardness of motherhood and self care — the coffee you pour for yourself but will never get to drink hot, the profoundly personal humor of our maternal chaos, the feeling of never getting anything quite right. Big love to all the mamma artists out there 💗💗💗

Major thanks to @zachfeuer for the private walk through of the Gochman Family Collection on the UES and thank you to @ripvanmodern for the invitation! The Gochman Family Collection consists of a private lending collection of contemporary art focusing on work by Indigenous and American artists. A guiding principle of the collection is to support living artists with the intent to direct resources and power to those building a future through an Indigenous lens. The collection often highlights artwork that is anti-colonial and Indigenous-centered. Beyond acquiring works of art, the Gochman Family Collection team works extensively to support and promote Indigenous leadership in the arts and beyond– one of the many brilliant projects being @forgeprojectny founded by Becky Gochman and Zach Feuer and curated by @candicebhopkins and Sarah Biscarra Dilley Always a treat to see how collections are displayed and lived with - this one was particularly brilliant! Thank you @beckygochman @zachfeuer @forgeprojectny

Situated between warrior princess and sturdy milkmaid, Portland, OR based artist Rainen Knecht’s hybrid, feminine figures playfully enact feminist revenge fantasies as they lounge, bend or contort into suggestive puzzles. Unbound by convention they are sexy, angry, ugly and funny. Her questioning of the frame's rigid utilitarianism led her into the gratifying exploration of materiality and decoration, as seen in her recent incorporation of artist-made frames. Rainen Knecht has held solo exhibitions at Fourteen30 Contemporary and CAPITOL and Knecht was also included in a 2 person exhibition with Nicola L in 2018, at SITUATIONS in New York City, NY. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally Stems Gallery (Brussels), Various Small Fires, Fisher Parrish, and The Pit, Los Angeles. Find this incredibly powerful work and more this month on @platformart_com RAINEN KNECHT The Sturdy Calf, 2022 Oil on linen, wood and plaster 36.8 × 31.0 inches #RainenKnecht @rainenknecht

One of the 4 incredibly special works by @gustavhamilton available this month only on David Zwirner’s PLATFORM @platformart_com ! Gustav Hamilton creates uncanny ceramic and acrylic paintings framed in hand-carved artist-made frames that double as a form of self-portraiture, often including scenes of his native Midwestern landscapes, Western art influences, and personal objects from his childhood. The illusion of depth versus the concrete tangibility of ceramic is a conceptual thread throughout his work and in this bizarre combination of material, weight and perspective play off each other creating tensions between dimensions and allowing for metaphorical association. Hamilton has held solo exhibitions with Zoe Fisher Projects and David B. Smith Gallery and has been included in group exhibitions at Moskowitz Bayse, Hashimoto Contemporary, Ochi Projects, Fisher Parrish Gallery, and The Hole to name a few. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Perez Art Museum, Miami, and The Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, Alfred, NY. 🙇‍♀️Hands down one of the best shows I’ve seen this year. Maybe the last few years…. Works by Serra Victoria Bothwell Fels and Taylor Baldwin at International Waters @international___waters . I’m very late to the party and the show closed tonight but damn…. Blown away by this show. Congrats @gotranggo @matttaber37 on the coolest space in Brooklyn by a long shot. 💓 @serravictoria @baldwints
