Painted my doggo Nessie while she was asleep. IPad with Procreate, tried playing around with making my own brushes, both fun and frustrating haha.
For anyone wondering about how Nessie is doing now - both good and bad I guess. Her surgery was successful and she doesn’t have Chylothorax anymore, but on September 2025 she was diagnosed with Lymphoma (an aggressive type of cancer). It can’t be cured and she won’t get to grow old, but at least it’s an uncommon type of it that seems to grow slower, since she’s still alive without symptoms after several months. So we’re just taking it a day at a time, at least she’s happy and her normal self right now ❤️

Life has basically been hell lately and I haven’t had the energy to draw on my free time or to keep up with social media, thought I’d try to get back into it a bit. Got myself a new iPad and have been playing around a lot with Procreate again. Here’s a unicorn. :)

RIP Newton, you were a good pig ❤️ We noticed he wasn't eating and drove him to the vet, an x-ray and ultrasound confirmed he had a tumor and his chest filled with fluids, so we had to let him go.. He was 4,5 years old, very small and twitchy, chewed the water bottle so loud it sounded like a typewriter and looked like a small brown bear.
2024 has sucked so much. I was laid off, our dog Rocka got a cancer diagnosis, my girlfriend got a cancer scare (luckily after some procedures it's gone), our other dog Acey had to get a tumor removed (still haven't gotten the test results but hope it wasn't a bad one) and got diagnosed with a heart murmur and then our youngest dog Nessie got chylothorax.
It hasn't been all bad, I got a fantastic new job at Offleash Interactive, got to work on the Dogs With Jobs Kickstarter and there are people that have it faaar worse than us, but.. I just feel so. drained.
Nessie's surgery for her Chylothorax is on Monday, hopefully she'll make it at least.

Small update on Nessie for those interested too: Her surgery is scheduled for Monday next week, she feels good for now so we're taking it day by day until then ❤️

Sadly, Nessie will need a surgery to close off the leakage in her lymphatic system. So we’re looking at roughly an additional $10,000 to the $11,962 we’ve paid for her treatment so far.... Yay!! If you’re able and willing, any help no matter how small would be really appreciated, or just sharing her Gofundme page (link in bio), anything helps!
She’s doing well otherwise, she’s been discharged from the ICU and is at home. She’s very tired (probably doesn’t help that we’ve been travelling 2h every other day to visit the clinic and drain her lungs), but she’s started to be happier and lately we’ve had a bit of trouble with making her keep calm and not play around too much. She doesn’t know how sick she is and wouldn’t mind running around in circles like she used to, haha.
Her lungs have been refilling at a slower pace so that’s really good, but they’re still refilling regardless of her being on the treatment against the blood clot, making the veterinarians think that the chylothorax might’ve been the cause of the thrombosis after all instead of it being the other way around. Thus the need for surgery. It has a 80% success rate, but it seems to be common that dogs might need a second surgery, and they’ll need to open up her chest. So.. that’s a bit scary, but we don’t really have any other options aside from to keep draining her lungs hoping the chylothorax will heal by itself, but that doesn’t seem to be a great option. :/

Nessie is home on leave from the clinic ❤️❤️❤️ They felt she was stable enough, so they removed the drains and thought she’d feel better at home. She’s not out of danger, but they’re hoping she -might- heal the chylothorax on her own if her blood clot continues to shrink, so we’re going to hope for that and continue her blood thinning medication as well as frequent checkups. Tomorrow we have an appointment at the clinic to ultrasound her and see if her lungs have been refilling too much without the draining, we hope it’ll be ok 😭
She was so happy to see us and just kept checking all the time if we were following her while going to the car. Don’t know how it’ll go but for now we’re thankful to have her with us again. She’s sleeping now and seems to breath like she should.
As of now we have paid the bill for her treatment which landed at 109625 SEK (163508 SEK before her insurance stepped in), scraping together all our savings as well as everything you have donated so far, and now there’s nothing left. We’ll have to continue treating her, which will be expensive given that her insurance has maxed out, and if she won’t get better we’re looking at doing an expensive surgery to correct the chylothorax. Still worrying our asses off over Nessie. I try to cope by drawing her. The veterinary asked us today if we still wanted to continue her treatment, of course we do? But now we've started worrying that they're giving up on her and that she's just a hopeless case... But it seems like Nessie is fighting this and keeping her spirits up, and it gets a tiny bit better every day even though it could turn around really quickly.. I love her so much and I miss her silly antics
Another sketch + update on Nessie: She's improving and is still feeling better, they did another CT scan yesterday and the results showed that her blood clot has been halved in size ❤️ She's still critical condition but getting there hopefully. Nessie is still stable but remains in intensive care while they try to find out why she got a blood clot.
