when @finntronn (aka that smiling face in the last slide) approached me with this project i had just moved to nyc and was eager to jump in • we spoke of football and the role mate plays in the beautiful game • he brought me into his circle • this brand identity is inspired by the community that emerges from that mate circle • and the pure leaf mate that grows under the beautiful araucaria tree in southern brazil • see more at @drinkmaatay &

Over orange wine at Kiki’s in NYC, childhood friends Zach and Ashton made a pact: grow the religion of football in America. The twist? They’re doing it with tarot cards.
Former NCAA and UEFA players turned artist and photographer, these unlikely sports zealots launched Footy Temple—a project blending spirituality with footy culture. Their mission: redefine the holy trinity of NBA, NFL, and MLB that Americans worship.
With an ethos of “we create the space, you create the religion,” their cards give people a moment to reflect on life through the beautiful game. From Times Square readings to Art Basel, they’ve discovered something magic happens when sport meets soul-searching.
In a nation where only 8% identify as football fans despite their sports-obsessed culture, Footy Temple is carving out sacred space for the world’s most beloved game—one card at a time.
