‘Arunan’s World’ Digital animation ‘Arunan’s World’ is the first animation of the lively, lovingly-crafted digital drawings of Arunan Dharmalingam. @arunand_dot_com has developed his iconic farm scenes over a number of years, progressively adding more detail, scenery and animals to build upon the farmyard story. Central to the composition is a horse, sheltering a baby rhino, which both eat the fruits of an overarching banana tree. A small group of chickens characterise the scene, scurrying in and around the trees and animals, laying eggs. The other animals eat happily and join in a cacophony of farm animal sounds. On the right side of the scene two white ducks and two black fish splash in unison in a pond. The scene is rich with symbolic imagery of provision and harmony - and yet wonderfully free and naive in its delivery. Arunan’s Farm with sunset ARUNAN DHARMALINGAM, 2023 Digital drawing on Synthetic Paper (A2, framed) 60cm x 77cm • Arunan Dharmalingam is a non-verbal artist based in Sydney, living with Autism. With limited verbal communication, art has become one of Arunan’s primary ways to share his thoughts, feelings, and fascinations with the world. Over more than a decade, Arunan has developed a distinctive style, creating playful farm scenes featuring hand-built and painted clay animal characters, alongside vibrant drawings and digital work. His love of animals, nurtured by visits to farms and zoos since childhood, remains central to his practice. Each piece hums with life, depicting animals jostling, interacting, and expressing their own silent stories that mirror Arunan’s experience of the world. • Recently Arunan had one of his clay animal artworks sell at the 2025 Firstdraft fundraiser auction, with more projects at @firstdraft_ coming soon with Little Umbrella Collective. His works also featured in the @littleumbrellacollective group exhibition at @goodspacegallery last month and his unique artworks, prints, clay sculptures and gift cards will be available again at the @turra.uniting Flea Markets on October 25th.
