Oh man, how Yosemite has stolen my heart! The people, the scenery, the routes, the atmosphere; everything felt magical! Even though my tryhard psyche was at a low and physical fatique was creeping in, I had the most wonderful time surrounded by new friends climbing classic easier routes and chilling in the valley. Thanks to everyone there who made it so special 🫰🏼

Badabing Badaboom! This was THE line for me in Red Rocks, by far. Expected to need multiple sessions, but did it first try after working the moves! Thanks @matt.maples and @a.nn.s.t for taking me up there. What an aesthetic pillar. All in the feet this one 👣

Quimera 8B 🦁
Boomshakalaka! So happy to tick Quimera, one of the main goals of the trip! Such an unique move this one is… Turned out to be quite the mental challenge; from almost sending it in my first session, to finally doing it on my last possible try whilst being tired and fixing a car payment on my phone in spanish… Took a pretty big split on my second session, resulting in having to postpone my tries for a few days and opening it again, twice. On top of that I experienced a painful and annoying nerve impingement in my hip from this move, so my number of tries per session were limited. Needed 6 or 7 sessions in total… All in all quite a test on my patience and perseverance, but definitely worth it in the end!

Santoku 8B / V13 🔪
Somewhere hidden between Chironico and Biasca you can find this absolute gem of a boulder. The overhanging sword feature is a pure compression line with technical heelhooks, big moves and comfortable holds.
‘Santoku’ is a Japanese word meaning ‘three virtues/strenghs’ and is used to describe the versatility of a kitchen knife. I think here it refers to the hold in the middle of the climb which looks and feels like a knife that you wrap your hand around. It seems that everyone climbing this rig is finding different ways to use the hold, making it live up to it’s name 🔪

The Knowing 8B / V13 🪬
One of the lifelist. During my short trip to Magic Wood, this wasn’t necessarily on the to do list, but when I walked past it I was stunned and got reminded of the pure beauty of this bloc. Decided to give this some proper tries, but it needed more work than ‘just the moves’. Gathering 11 pads, brushing the boulder and working the moves on a rope by myself was all worth it. A bit too tired to do it in a session, so returned the next day and made quick work of it. Not the hardest of the grade, but maybe the best boulder in MW? Thanks to the people passing by who gave me a spot :) Very psyched about this one 🔥!

Had so much fun working on New Base Line (8B+).
Got all the moves fairly quick and set the goal to climb the standstart, which clocks in at 8A+ ✔️. Also did Voigas 8A+ ✔️ and Riders on the Storm 8B ✔️ the same day, so pretty psyched.
Riders was quite a mission, gathering branches and sticks to build a landing and finding extra pads to make it somewhat safe to do by myself. After all the prep, I got it done in 40 min! :) Phone was dead so no footage unfortunately…
All in all a good day in the forest! 🌲

Had a little getaway to Bleau last weekend after lots of studying. Had a couple of beautiful days in the forest and managed to wrestle up a few good ones. Close on the flash here, but still needed quite some tries. Stunning looking boulder! 💆🏼♂️

Happy to get the second ascent of this one. Slowly getting through the boulders in Avalonia. Very fun elimination of Zoete Mosterd: no feet below the rail and no top holds. Haven’t been that stretched out from a heel before !

What a wonderful triple 8a day in Avalonia. Finally managed to take down the purest and hardest boulder in the forest. Since the left crimp broke it hasn’t seen many repeats. It did become quite a bit harder and now definitely higher end 8A, but still a quality rig.

We drove down to Albarracin after a week in Margalef for the New Years party and a couple of hours of bouldering. It was the fourth consecutive day of climbing, so felt pretty wrecked. Somehow managed to pull off this board climb in a couple goes! Felt great to sit on pads again after hanging on a rope ✌️

It’s been a while since this summer, but I can’t stop thinking about it! Climbing wise it was super successful (with 35 boulders 8A and up, ticklist below), hitting two of my life goals with climbing 100+ >8A boulders and 10+ 8B boulders, so super happy with that.
