Last month @artnoirco held their Jar of Love reception at @sothebys ! It was a pleasure to photograph the event and meet all the artists! #photographybyzorrie#shotbyzap#artnoir#sothebys
Earlier this month @artnoirco had a special film screening of ‘My Father’s Shadow’ with the Black Arts Council at @themuseumofmodernart . I was able to photograph the event. My Father’s Shadow is a film by @akinoladaviesjr and @kingxdavies and they just won a @bafta award for Outstanding Debut for a British writer, director or producer. Huge congratulations!

Last weekend @artnoirco had a walkthrough of @rdeborah191 show ‘Deborah Roberts: Consequences of Being’ at the @flagartfoundation . It was great getting to meet her and listen to her describe her work.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph @samorapinderhughes through @artnoirco at @themuseumofmodernart . It was a beautiful and inspiring performance. I wanted to share some moments I documented. Last two slides are videos from my phone. I have been spending more time at MOMA and have been loving it!

More images from my thesis ‘Golden’! I’m beyond proud of this body of work and thrilled to share it with everyone now!🤎✨
Artist Statement
The black women I know are joyful, trendsetters, exude light, and love unequivocally among other beautiful attributes. The outside world has inflicted perceptions that are not always true representations. Through this project I am creating a more representational depiction of black women. Moving through life, there are various black experiences which connect black women to one another.
Part of the inspiration for this project is my mother. My mother is special in many ways, she is always exuding joy, love, light, and always continues to inspire me. Growing up she raised my sister and I to embrace and love the skin we live in, our hair that defies gravity, and to be confident, kind, and passionate.
Through the inspiration of my mother, “Golden” displays black women of various shades of melanin, body types, and hair styles to show the everlasting versatility.
The project incorporates all of my creative passions into one, to produce a larger story of the subjects photographed and their beautiful souls.
Special thanks to my mother Scheherazade, my sister Amira, Dr. Deborah Willis, Jordan Cruz, William Barclay, Journi, Remidy, and Vanessa.

So happy to finally share these photographs from my thesis ‘Golden’. This project means so much to me highlighting black women and all their beauty. This is by far my favorite projects I’ve worked on to date. I’ll be sharing more images, the film element, bts, and more soon. Everything is also on my website if you’d like to see it there as well. Thank you so much again to my friends that were apart of this project!! 🤎✨

Last night was the NYU Tisch School Of The Arts Photography & Imaging Senior Exhibit. This was a beautiful night. After just graduating, my time at NYU was just completed with the opening of the senior show. This is my first time being in a group show and I’m super proud of the project I created. It took a lot of time, love, blood, sweat, and tears. I had amazing models to help execute the vision, had help from a friend with bts/production, great guidience and peer reviews, and overall a great experience. Golden has been a huge part of my life. I was going from class, to work, the back to school to shoot in the studio. There was tons of pre-production, production, and post production as well as a lot of research. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my mom @la_gran_senora_scheherazade , my sister @itsamiragrace , my thesis professor and mentor @debwillisphoto , the models ( @journipmcgee@vanessaswurld@remidy_destyn , and my friend @wmb.photography_ !! My thesis is concluded and now it’s time to move forward. This experience has been a multitude of emotions. Thank you to my friends that came to support my installation as well as my classmates. Onto the next project! 🤎✨ #photographybyzorrie#shotbyzap#nyu#nyutisch
Wanted to post these too! Thank you again to @wmb.photography_ for photographing me. I don’t have too many photos of myself taken by others, so this was special!!

Happy New Year! I’m proud to announce I graduated from NYU Tisch School Of The Arts this past fall semester! It’s been a long road going from El Camino college back home in L.A. to transferring to NYU. There have been many ups and downs, all nighters/lack of sleep, working a job that didn’t have anything to do with photography, moving 3,000 miles away from home, building new relationships and mentorship’s, and overall growth as a person. During my time in NYC I have enjoyed living in the city, going to museums, artists talks and panels, CONCERTS, creating new friendships, and experimenting with my craft even more while gaining a deeper historical knowledge of photography.
My mom is the whole reason I was even able to have this experience. She has loved and supported my sister’s and I endeavors our whole lives. She always said, “do what you love but have your degree!”. Her support throughout my whole life, driving me to all my extra curricular activities, listening to me, guiding me, and just love got me to NYU. Thank you mama @la_gran_senora_scheherazade 💜
I thank God for giving me this experience!
This experience has been invaluable. I’ve had numerous professors that have been so supportive, understanding, kind, and gave their advice and constructive criticism when I needed it the most. Thank you to @tischphoto for being the department that you are! Thank you to @debwillisphoto for being you, for your mentorship, and all your amazing contributions to the world of photography and art. There’s no photography without Dr.Deborah Willis!
To attend a university that was founded before the emancipation of black people has a deep meaning. Everyday I’m blessed to walking into the Tisch building and create art. I’m living my ancestors wildest dreams attending NYU and receiving a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Photography. I am the first in my immediate family to obtain a degree and I’m an extremely proud to be a cycle starter and carry those who came before in my family that made it possible for me to do this.
Special thanks to my family and friends back in L.A.!💜

(PART ONE)
One year in and it’s still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. 💕💚
Thank you God, thank you mommy, thank you to my Soror-aunties and my family. Thank you to my LS’s, thank you to the women that came before me. Thank you to my oh-so Legendary chapter, and of course, thank you too @zap_2 for the beautiful photos. 😘🥰
This week I attended the Reflections in Black: A Reframing 25th Anniversary book launch. It was such an amazing experience seeing artists speak so passionately about photography. I just wanted to share some of the beautiful moments that occurred. Being in the room was so special. I walked away feeling inspired, motivated, and even more proud to be a visual storyteller. Throughout the night I met many wonderful people including some artists I admire, professors I have, and fellow lovers of photography. Thank you to @nyucbvc for another amazing event!
Thank you to @debwillisphoto for everything you do and for being a pioneer in this industry. Your work has inspired myself and many others. I could go on and on! Thank you @tischphoto !
