And now Jackie and Julia’s garden wedding in black & white. When you strip the color away from the photos, you are somehow left with more. More focus on the moments, the expressions, the feelings. There are no distractions. It’s like sitting at the beach and closing your eyes. Suddenly you hear the waves crashing and seagulls flying and kids playing - and although you saw it before, now you feel it. Photo 1: I can hear Julia’s laughter. Guys, I think your brides fall a little more in love with you when you humor them and the photographers during portraits, even if photos aren’t your thing. This photo is proof. Photo 2: This might be one of my favorite captures of the day. Julia made eye contact with her mom and was fighting back emotions. In the same frame, while everyone’s eyes were on Julia, Jackie’s nephew was very curiously peaking over at him. So much feeling here. Photo 3: This was the exact moment Jackie caught sight of Julia, looked down, took a deep breath, and fought back tears. I could feel his heart racing. Photo 6: The “aw” from the crowd when the ring boy walked down the aisle. Photo 7: The flower girl is inspecting the groom’s new ring, and the ring boy’s proudly like “yeah, I delivered that” haha. Photo 10: Jackie’s dad came up to Julia right after the ceremony, held her hand, and officially welcomed her to the family in a tiny but beautiful moment. I could feel what it’s like to be loved by your new family. I love the pretty photos with the perfect editing and posing. But man, nothing beats the moments in black & white.
