☁️ Nostalgia ☁️
To me, nostalgia feels like a summer breeze at the beach soft, hazy, and a little bittersweet. It’s like flipping through faded film photos, hearing a song you haven’t played in years, or catching a scent that instantly takes you back.
For this concept video, I wanted to challenge myself as both a choreographer and videographer to capture that feeling through movement, colour, and sound. While everyone’s feeling of nostalgia is different for me it’s the washed out memories, old style footage, blues that reflect the breeze on a warm day, and waves crashing in the background.

Some of my biggest tips when it comes to learning how to pop and in particular using popping within choreography. 💪🏻
1. As stated you must relax to tense. As crazy and obvious as it is a lot of the time we hold extra tension in our muscles that just isn't needed.
2. Pop to stop & pop to go. This is a little drill I developed that involves tracing a box with your hands to give you 4 points per hand. When tracing your box you are now either popping to stop at those positions or calmly stopping and then initiating the next movement with a pop. (The biggest note is you want to keep the same tempo and not dart into your pops)
3. Going through each muscle group is a must when learning how to pop. Everyone has different levels of connection to their muscles aka mind muscle connection. Some people have really strong tricep pops others it's their videos for me it's my lats. So go through all the muscles to not only get comfortable but to increase the power of your pop.
4. You don't need big muscles to pop. As stated in number 3 you need mind muscle connection. Will going to the gym help with this? Of course but that's only because we are learning to engage our muscles through weight training and not because of the size of the muscles.
5. Playing with rhythm. Don't get caught out by only drilling and training to one tempo especially if we are popping for choreography. Pop to syllables, increase your power and pop to stringed instruments, learning ticking, strobing and dim stops to help you play within the areas of contrasts. The more you explore and play the more time you'll end up putting into this amazing style!!
