We have to stop meeting the camera with self-insults.
Not just during professional shoots but even at brunch, in group photos, selfies, family events, etc.
This kind of casual, automatic self-criticism feels normal, but it shouldnāt be. It isnāt harmless and over time, it chips away at our self-worth and shapes how we experience ourselves and our quality of life far beyond the camera.
iāve noticed photography feels especially alive in Atlanta and in the south in general lately.
perplexing and satisfying in a time where technology should have diluted the medium.
a moment from a charged gallery activation recognizing 40 living women and the importance of being seen, presented by @bessieakuba & @ilovethedoux to kick off Womenās History Month.
iāve always felt like we donāt need a calendar to celebrate anyone. grief has only reinforced how delicate life is and how little sense it makes to wait to celebrate one another.
happy Womenās History Month & a reminder to see and celebrate one another every day.
thank you @leimaje for this photo of me ā£ļø
Such an amazing time with family & friends at our holiday party celebrating our most successful year to date ⨠Wishing everyone infinite blessings into the new year š
Thank you @z0a for the photos š¤
Me and my friend @z0a were talking about doing up-leveled photo booths monthssss ago when the summer sun was motivating and I was more ambitious. So grateful @jetziinthesky gave us the opportunity to make it happen this winter solstice ! Zoa flew from Atlanta GA to Cleveland OH (in the winter) The universe conspired in our favor and Savers had everything we needed for the vibe we were going for. INSANE tbh and we even set up the stuff in store to see lol. Dan at @purplefilms let us borrow the lighting and we drove to Chicago to create the magical photo experience you all helped to make memorable.
It was so special for me because 1) I was invited to perform my music and celebrate the 5th year anniversary of Cold Tender Nite! 2) Celebrate 5 years of my friend Jetziās business @botanicalilith 3) When I shot the visuals for the EP, I used things I found at antique stores. Most notably the antique window i spray painted with frost and hooked up with clamps and tripods to sing behind and pretend I was looking out of a warm tudor home window.

All of my visuals that I get complemented on are usually me being creative with concepts and resourceful and having Dan help me light it and bring to life. Felt so supported and loved by my friends & I love that Zoa knew exactly what to do & travelled despite having a beloved family member promoted to ancestor status this holiday season. @angela_alice143 helped get the draping right. š
I often have a hard time figuring out what to do when iām not performing and so having the āphoto boothā really grounded me in the moment and was a beautiful ice breaker for others. It connected us all and I feel like I was able to share a bit of the magic that usually only happens behind the scenes.
wearing @valentinavoight & @jujusvintage
I cannot articulate how happy it would make me to do this again and more often in 2026. āØšļø heard the public library is going LIVE soon. THAANK YOU AGAIN X333 to my friends my community & everyone supporting the journey! I love you ā„ļøš„
noticed a window trend in my camera roll from the last 14 days. truly doesnāt feel like itās been 14 days.
I have so much to say and nothing at all. everything is hilarious and aināt shit funny but I am OK.
I shared a few days ago that I am processing a loss in my family and I appreciate the outpouring of care. comes in waves, i feel hyper-present yet detached at the same time and that feels appropriate. Iāve been able to slow down and process this transition with family and for that I am thankful. this is the second transition of a loved one Iāve experienced this year and although I feel grounded, I also feelā¦sensitive.
no one is a stranger to grief and I feel it is important to share when we are introduced to a new level of grief for solidarity...so we can be handled with care by those we are in community with. still taking care of myself and family, still good. I do appreciate check-ins/media share i.e. articles/podcasts/art/video/films/music/reels/memes š«¶š¾
I had my first photo session back earlier this week and that felt good. thought I should make it clear that I am working during this time. I have a few dates open for the remainder of the year and am booking through Spring.
if youāre reading this thank you and be well.
