Weeks posts
It’s been a busy spring here at the farm, with our past few workdays laying the groundwork for the season ahead. Join us today for the last of the Yale Farm workdays this spring! Three weeks ago, former Lazarus Intern Caroline Tracey ’14 sat with students to discuss the significance of the Salt Lakes to local farmers and ecosystems. Two weeks ago, Meryl Braconnier, a Master of Environmental Management candidate (’26) at the Yale School of the Environment, presented her work with @commongroundct and @gathernewhaven . And last week, students had the opportunity to listen to Sian Auer YSPH ‘26 discuss how Guyana’s subsistence farming affects dietary health. Photos by Emma Buretta ’28

The YSFP is hiring for Culinary Events Managers! 🫛🫜🧄  Curious about what it’s like? Hear from Ella Adebonojo ’28 about working with our wood fired oven: “I feel so lucky to have found the farm so early in my Yale career through Harvest, to have spent so many wonderful Fridays with the Yale Sustainable Food Program, and, most of all, to be able to support the Yale Farm community as a Culinary Events Manager. Arriving at the farm at the end of each week feels like stepping into a different pace of life, and preparing ingredients or tending to the fire becomes immersive and satisfying. I have met some of the most thoughtful, capable, and generous people through this very collaborative work, and there is something deeply bonding about building a fire, feeding people, and troubleshooting together. I have learned so much from my time at the farm, not only from the knead-to-knows, but also from the pizza team and the practice of transforming our locally-sourced ingredients into delicious pizzas for all. The farm has taught me how to be present, how to adapt when things don’t go as planned, and how to hold responsibility in a way that is steady rather than stressful. It has shaped how I think about food systems, community care, and the value of hands-on learning. There is so much joy in building community through food and in being able to bring a warm and inviting space to members of the community each week. I’ll always be grateful for the way the farm has fed me, in every sense of the word.” Head to the link in our bio to learn more about the Culinary Events Manager position, as well as other opportunities like the Lazarus Summer Internship. You can submit the common application by Sunday, February 15th at 11:50pm. Photos by @kyezhng Kai Zhang ’26, @briannamagtoto Brianna Magtoto ’28, and @maraklein0 Mara Klein ‘27

Encouraged to cook simply and be experimental.” “The weekly reading discussions kept me reading intellectually engaging texts during the summer, introduced me to the various ways you can approach food/ag studies” And their favorite crops of the summer…. The YSFP is hiring! Keep reading for a glimpse on what it’s like to work with us at Old Acre 🌾 “Hi everyone! My name is Sawan! I’ve worked at the farm for the past three years as a Farm Manager, and last summer I received the Global Food Fellowship to support my work at two urban farms back home in the Bay Area. The Yale Farm is hands down my favorite place on campus. Particularly when I was a first-year, I found the pace of the Farm and intentionality of connection so refreshing. People would take the time to get to know to strangers over picking weeds and eating pizza. As a Farm Manager, I now get to create a space for volunteers to connect with each other over a shared interest in tending for the land. I hope you will consider applying to the YSFP!” Link in our bio for job descriptions & apps. All applications are due on Sunday, February 15th at 11:50pm. 📸 Photos by Creative Visual Lead & 2025 Lazarus Summer Intern @maraklein0
