Pulling back the curtain on something I’ve been quietly working on since dad passed.
Introducing the Desert Synth Lab. An arsenal of electronic and electromechanical instruments spanning the last 75 years of music tech. Location: somewhere in the Mojave desert.
It’s a studio space I’ve been meticulously putting together, built around a museum-esque collection of keyboards. Decades of music technology, transported from Ohio to Joshua Tree. Disassembling his Ohio studio, moving it all here, going through countless set ups, figuring out how to properly honor what it all represents – that’s taken time. But it’s been worth every bit of it.
It’s true that this space is a way of paying respect to him and his boundless creative vision. But as much of it is steeped in history and legacy, it’s more about looking forward than back. So much music to be made, sounds to be synthesized, collaborations to be born. It has a new life of its own, and I can’t wait to start sharing it with y’all.
Finally getting back to writing and releasing @rexkalibur tunes. This one in particular has been sitting ‘finished’ but unreleased (on web2) for *years*. A collab with the ultra talented @dontmesswithjuanmusic , it’s finally seeing the light of day…erm night.
What’s more is it’s been sitting for so long that we even had time to write a whole multi-movement remix album around it. That’s out today, and we’re quite proud of it. Hope you all enjoy.

It’s been a year of healing and reflection, but I find myself (finally) enjoying making music again. I’ve also been hard at work recording and finishing dad’s solo piano pieces.
Late one night while working on these, I sat down at his piano, quite delirious, and thankfully happened to be recording. This piece flowed out completely improv, channelled from somewhere in the ether.
There was someone else helping guide my hands that night. It only felt appropriate to put it out today.
I met @nigelroman_ soon after moving to the desert. A month later, a whole pandemic thing happened and I didn’t know how to even begin meeting folks in the music scene out here. Fast forward a few years and here we are sharing the stage at the desert legend @pappyandharriets
Enormous gratitude to Nigel for introducing me to @themikeyreyes and the immensely talented The Feeling @mikeyreyes_thefeeling - we’ve rocked festival gigs, started a new collective @kingmadre , and built a residency at our home base @masomenosbar

Today would have been dad’s 67th birthday. 2024 has been a year of sucker punches, but his cancer diagnosis was the biggest blow. As our family emerges from the healing journey, I’ve taken on the challenge and the honor of finishing his (massive) catalog of unreleased music.
Today we’ve released his aptly-titled “Inner Peace”, an emotive solo piano piece that has brought our family solace these last few months. May it bring you the same. 🤍

What is life right now.
It’s hard to overstate how much of an inspiration ISAM was in my early music days. And @amontobin ‘s works have remained a huge part of my listening life. I’ve always marveled at how he consistently manages to walk a line of experimental yet emotional, esoteric yet relatable, abrasive yet inviting.
To release an official remix with him, now that my @rexkalibur project is starting to blossom…is beyond words. Respect to the legend, and thanks for the opportunity to remix “Metropole”
