I have been working on this hat on and off for the last 2 years and my first sample, pictured, is up for auction benefitting Tiger Strikes Asteroid // @tsa_la
I went back to the shop to get more fabric and they were out, and the other shops in the fashion district havenāt stocked this color for a decade. I had a moment of grieving of the fabric having gone extinct in my hands. Im sure one day I will love another color.

Anyone I know in the North Coast of Taiwan this weekend? Iāve been here as an artist in residence at the Taiwan Environmental Sculpture Association & exhibiting new sculptures. Sat 1.11 - Sun 1.12.
While so many of us artists fantasize about getting land and building an arts space, the founder Tzu-Lung Chang not only pulled it off, he also designed the buildings and orchid heavy landscape himself. Its been an awe inspiring place to reside.
He and the ED taught me plaster fundamentals and I ran with it. So, come and send your friends. Thereās casts of body parts & natural objects, interplay with his monumental sculptures, lil sculpey frenz, and a moody light.
Included in the deck are casts (one worn as fashion), ephemera from chasing my perfect dappled light, Tzu-Lungās sculptures, underwear, deadly snake, woman harvesting bamboo, and 2 studiomates (one after a long bath).
Tell your friends in Taiwan. I already had one chance encounter with friend (!!!) and its been dreamy to share this slice of life with others.
I got a text from my mom with two of my aunts phone numbers. āswimming pool sisterā and ācrazy sisterā. Evidence that chaos agent energy runs in the family. Is an ig post proof of life if im digging up old comics on dropbox? Circa 2016 for Saboteurs which we coedited with Emi š š¦
Iām heading to Korea in November, so high key, if you have a gift idea for korean auntie/uncle/cousin types lmk, coffee and honey are so 1998 but theyre the only gifts I know.
I have a few freaky pieces at Tryst art fair this Saturday and Sunday. Curated by the excellent @laurenkirm for @kaacollective . Thanks @torranceartmuseum for putting this fair together.
My closest map pin is the Royce Chocolate at Mitsuwa across the street if anyone wants to prefunk.
Ive been coming to terms that a lot of my life and practice involve making housewares and objects to exactly fit my space. Its a little crazy making bc everywhere I look I see a small potential adjustments. Itās also my armor from the temptations of West Elm and a nice tax deduction.
With the work slowdowns Iāve invested in new tools and had infinite time to build furniture / make other objects. This is a lil selection of recent objects plus some oldies I found in my camera roll.
1 - Dream worktable. Heavy influence and advice from @californiacarts , 2023
2 - Bookshelf. Plans adapted from āSimple Japanese Furnitureā by Group Monomono. cc @jimfetterley , 2024
3 - Face for a riser box for a wardrobe bc the wardrobe has to live over an HVAC floor vent and in front of 7.5ā baseboards. What slumlord did this bad house reno and how many years have I been in a ballet with my dysfunctional house????, 2024
4 - Hand candle (Handle??). Study for my show with Ante at @opensourcegallery , 2021
5 - Embroidered Yut Nori gameboard, 2022
6 - Blackout curtains & curtain rod holders. 2013 & 2017
7 - Danish cheese baskets, 2024
8 - Flax processing equipment. Scutching board, Break, and Hackles, 2023
9 - Bootleg xmas gift for my beloved, 2023
10 - 8th grade woodshop lockable box for CO2 car, 2002
I 100% admit that this year has been a different kind of crazy making. I stopped shy of building a tufted bed because thats a problem solved with not much $$$ on Wayfair vs nowhere to sleep for a week and a frustrated Soyoung. Iām barely finishing anything and infinite studio time is its own kind of existential šµāš«
Someone please give me a job relevant to my skills before I accidentally staple my finger.
The fantastic @bridgetbatch and @mollyshoelace put together a group show considering generations on and off the internet, motherhood, technology, and history. Theyāre showing my tapestry, hung in a manner that shows its alterations, and Iām so grateful for the care.
Thereās a reception at @montevistaprojects this Saturday 7-10. I hope to see some friendly faces there <3
I have an on-again off-again obsession with YA fiction and the inner lives of teens. I talked to Javier of @whatismythesis podcast about it, and the books / TV shows that let me get in touch with my squirmy, hopeless, younger self that didnāt have language for feelings yet, just outbursts of strange teen behaviors. Thereās links in their profile if you want to listen/watch along. I laugh a lot. Xo
Many moons ago a few of us followed an instinct and put together a zine to make cohesive our wishes to connect asian americans artists. It led to a bunch of launch events, kristina wong emceeing as a vagina, and a very sweet marketplace of goodies.
Now this zine is in an exhibition at the Mori Art museum in Tokyo alongside our fore-aunties, fore-uncles who too understood the importance of speaking our experiences, speaking our truths.
Itās been a sweet moment to reflect on the impact that a few sheets of stapled paper can have in giving our communities a voice, and how much has changed since we started in 2016.
I have so much appreciation for all the people who have contributed as performers, prose writers, vendors, space providers to this project over the years.
Posted @withregram ⢠@audreychan.studio SABOTEURS zine is part of the exhibition āImagining Justice - Asian American Art Movementsā at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, curated by Alexandra Chang & Manabu Yahagi. Currently on view through November 6, 2022!

Our mission statement:
SABOTEURSĀ is a zine focused on writings and artwork by and about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In escalating national dialogues around race, AAPI voices continue to be misrepresented or unheard. This zine, inspired by radical AAPI publications like Gidra, is an effort to embrace AAPI voices and contribute to a collective, radical history.Ā
