We submitted our preliminary rebuild plans - and the County said they look good, so, the rebuild is on! It doesn’t look like much to the Western eye, but nature sure seems undaunted. I’ve never seen such tall dandelions! I still cannot believe how generous people have been in the last year. I am slowly working on creating more unique cyanotypes of halcyon childhood experiences before his entire world burned up in the #eatonfire. It does seem almost silly to post art right now, but it’s also soul soothing and like many Americans I feel trapped in horror. I hope that one day these will become some sort of book that can be enjoyed. It comes from tragedy but is joyful. Thank you to @emilylbutts and @tamara_cedre at Pitzer College who helped me out with the studio residency where I began this project. Dear all, Omid for Girls is an organization of high school girls volunteering to tutor girls in Afghanistan since the Taliban no longer allows them to attend school. I am putting two fundraising links in my bio for Pasadena HS’ Omid group (one general), which I served as advisor to for two years. It’s run by an incredible student and they are fundraising to assist this young lady and her little brother to get out of Afghanistan since their parents died and the Taliban have targeted and assaulted her. Yay to me! I accomplished a goal! I ran my first half marathon today, in Catalina. I set this goal to coincide with my birthday, in order to push myself to improve my physical condition. And I did it! Birthday is tomorrow. I’m doing a fundraiser. The half-marathon was a fundraiser, too, for the Catalina Island Conservancy, but my fundraiser will be for Doctors Without Borders. If only people in Congo, Sudan, Gaza, etc could be safely pushing themselves to finish long runs. #runcatalina #goalz #halfmarathon
