On sacred ground, we gathered to listen, to learn, and to honour.
At the J.H. Kwabena Nketia Archives, students, scholars, and creatives came together to engage with Lemi Ghariokwu — a living bridge between Africa’s cultural past and present.
Among rare records, ancestral voices, and the heartbeat of Ghana’s intellectual memory, we spoke of art, identity, resistance, and the urgent need to preserve our stories.
This wasn’t just a talk. It was a call to memory.
Thank you to the Archives, to the University of Ghana, and to every mind that showed up to make history alive again. See you at Republic Bar for the closing!!
Sending all the love to @staplestudios01 for the brilliant video ♡

YOU’RE INVITED ✨
We’re excited to announce our event bringing Burger Highlife and its popular culture into conversation in collaboration with @purewatazine , @blackarchivegermany , @youexperience , @retroghana , @playhighlifeclub
The tragic and untimely death of Daddy Lumba this year, and George Darko in 2024 reminded us all that ‘our libraries are on fire’, as highlife musician and elder Koo Nimo puts it. Burger Highlife is a musical thread that connects Germany and the wider diaspora back to Ghana and, as is the case with a lot of our history, this isn’t in museums and galleries but the stories from our aunties and uncles, Grandma’s photo albums, or your dad’s old record and cassette collection.
@dj.dandans and @miriamemefa will be moderating a conversation with @_fiistagram , @kobbygram , @kpo_do and @sunudoe - and of course all of you who can make it. We learn and preserve history by sharing stories.

Grateful to have shared space and ideas at the Hotel Archive panel. Together, we explored how archives live in cities, homes, and memories, shaping how we create, preserve, and tell our stories today. Thank you to the organizers and fellow panelists for such a meaningful exchange.
