Kona, Kona, Kona.
You cross our minds every single day, and it still happens often—someone we run into asks about you. You left a mark on everyone you met with your goofy personality and your sweet, gentle heart. I’ve struggled to find the right words to describe what it feels like without you here. And instead of forcing words that never quite fit, I chose to do something in your honor—something I hope leaves a mark on everyone this post reaches.
I’m sharing your story and giving back, because that’s who you were. You gave people smiles and laughter even on their hardest days, without ever asking for anything in return. Okay maybe some pets, but you deserved all of those.
For the next three weeks, a pre-order t-shirt will be available in Kona’s honor. This shirt is meant to spread awareness about the tragic circumstances that took her from us. All proceeds from the shirts will be donated to @afriendofjack , to help save and support dogs like her.

on november 7th, time stood still, and my life changed forever. i’m not sure i’ve ever experienced shock before, and i felt like i was in a fever dream. it’s taken me a while to even post this because to be honest, everyday is hard. grief is a hell of a demon, my mind is loud, my memories haunt me, and guilt takes over.
we lost kona this day, and i’m not sure i will ever forgive myself. she was the best girl ever, loved every person and dog she came across. she was the neighborhood dog mayor, everyone knew her, and to know her, was to love her. she was the funniest and silliest girl too. she loved to play fetch (even though she didn’t know how to at first), she loved running around with her neighbor friends and being the speediest on the block, gave the best hugs, loved giving kisses or licking the lotion off your legs, playing police woman when the cats were up to no good, going on runs on the trail, sitting in the sun, and i could go on and on.
unfortunately, her curiosity one night took her life and i’ll never forget that night. i don’t wish this kind of pain on anyone. losing two dogs in less than two years is crazy enough, but losing your soul dog that got you through life and then another by a horrible accident when she hadn’t fully lived her life yet is not for the weak. not sure why life keeps throwing me punches to test me.
so this is a PSA to hug your fur babies for me, kiss them on their head and tell them they are a good boy/girl, hug a friend, check on your people, and tell someone you love them.
RIP sweet baby angel, we love you and miss you so much you have no idea. i’m sorry. my Kona Wave 🌊💕

we were lucky to find this cutie through @afriendofjack at an event they had at a local brewery. i instantly started to tear up because her brindle coat reminded me of bentley. we weren’t sure we were ready but we were drawn to her. here we are more than a month later since we officially adopted her and she’s fitting in perfect!
she gets along with the cats and is the most chill 2 year old. she loves to take naps, long walks to check the squirrels out, go to breweries, take car rides, and belly rubs!
