Today we celebrated a pivotal moment in the YMCA story at historic Olvera Street in Los Angeles: A Binational partnership with
@ymcamx
While we’ve enjoyed a close relationship with YMCA México for many years, starting in 2025 we’ve been working more closely together than ever before.
Last month we hosted our first ever binational Girls Empowerment Day, where 5K girls in Los Angeles and 1K girls in Mexico celebrated girls’ sports, empowerment, and community fun during Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. This is just the first of many more great collaborations to come between Los Angeles & Mexico.
Leadership from the LA Y, Y México, elected officials, and guest speakers shared inspirational remarks about this partnership, and the impact it will create for thousands of youth and families across our nations.
We give special thanks to our guest speakers:
@franciscoxrivera – Emcee, Sportscaster
@adrian_eltitan - Former LA Dodger
Victor Dominguez – President & CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles
Oscar Velasco Flores - President & CEO, YMCA México
