Our next FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund grantee spotlight: YMCA Mexico! YMCA Mexico was founded to support youth in underserved communities, ensuring that girls have access to organized sports, emotional guidance, and leadership opportunities. Through its vital work, this organization empowers youth – particularly girls – to build leadership skills and access new opportunities through education, health, and sports-based programs.⁠ ⁠ With the funding they’ve received as a grant beneficiary, they’ll focus on implementing their Beyond the Goal program, as well as providing transportation equipment, specialized staff, psychological support, and more. Más allá de la capacitación técnica, esta experiencia nos recordó el valor de construir comunidad, compartir ideas y crecer junto a personas que inspiran. Last month we hosted our first ever binational Girls Empowerment Day, where 5K girls in Los Angeles and 1K girls in Mexico celebrated girls' sports, empowerment, and community fun during Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. This is just the first of many more great collaborations to come between Los Angeles & Mexico.
