When I was younger, my mother used to say that rain storm & thunder storms would mean God was cleaning the heavens. She’d say he was mopping. As a kid, I remember thinking “ well, he must be mopping a flat surface then bc so much water is falling off?” 🤔 If that’s the case, this is how I imagine the flood. - I really enjoyed making this piece at is a depiction of my childhood imagination. The beauty of La Yugular by Rosalía A song that explores the teachings of the Muslim Sufi saint Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya. After challenging God in “Porcelana” and portraying Him as a stalker through His omnipresence in “Dios es un stalker” - La Yugular feels like a reconciliation with God that expands beyond Christianity. She uses the teachings from Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya, where she said she would burn heaven and demolish hell, rejecting the promises and threats. No reward, no punishment, only pure and genuine love to God. Rosalía uses this idea as an expression of an absolute faith that transcends the logic of heaven and hell. She rejects both fear of punishment and hope of reward. It is loving purely, without any conditions. The best part of the song is the entire 3rd verse, where she uses a series of metaphors that lead to the message and paradox that God cannot contain the world, yet fits within the human heart. God is infinite, but His divinity lives in each person, in their heart or consciousness. In other words, the ocean is infinite, impossible to measure, but with just a single drop of it in your heart is more than enough to contain all its essence. He welcomes everyone with open arms; don’t let people’s actions or bad doctrine push you away from that truth. I’m a literature person through and through classics, not fluff. Literature as art. For context: Iago is the greatest villain of all time, Achilles the greatest hero. Period. #IYKYK I’m obsessed with patterns, history, film tropes, human behavior. That curiosity led me to stocks. Just like literature, markets move in cycles, and learning those patterns. (I’ve made $2500 - not a lot but still learning!) Visually, I live in the old internet. Windows XP. Frutiger Aero. Early HD TVs with the fish screensaver vibe? I’m there mentally 24/7. I mix it w/ dreamcore & liminal vibes; @ykd2k = imagination fr.
