I had a fantastic day cycling about yesterday, popped in @goldsmithscca . MUST SEE shows, Paper Tiger Television (1-5). Even if you see one video watch Renne Tajima, Asian Images in American film: Charlie Chan go home (1984). Really funny ascorbic witty lady captured on video. After that go see Christina Mackie (6-11) In upstairs gallery. Beautiful beautiful show, especially on a sunny day where Mackie has opened up the windows where the light transforms the spaces. Soul lifting inspiring fresh work!
Had a great day at Goldsmiths Women's Art library today. Found some gems that I didn't know existed as part of my research- Archiving the British Chinese Artists association in the 90's. There was a folder dedicated to BCAA! !!!!(1)

I had a wonderful day on Saturday leading a workshop in Fu Talismans with the Intersectional Healing network @goldsmithsuol . It was a day of healing starting with Qigong meditation, followed by brushwork and calligraphy, sharing my ancestral knowledge and art practice. We had a beautiful group lunch followed by a collective snooze and an embroidery session where we sewed our amulets onto a large quilt called 'soft ground'. Thanks to @clembedos@adrianaarroyo__ andthe IHN cohort for inviting me to share my voice and lead this special session.
Amazing road trip to Sheffield to meet artist @yuenfongling , for my PhD research,' Archiving the British Chinese Arts movement and BCAA'. Collecting oral histories of British Chinese artists and mapping the arts movement from late 1990's. Seeing 'We are monument' at Graves Gallery @sheffmuseums in person and doing voice recordings in situ was so rewarding and moving. Thank you Yuen for the really amazing interview and visit to your studio!
Next stop @parasite.hk , so wonderful to make a visit and join the dots after so many years! Really great to see the space and talk to the friendly staff. The current show, 'Reframing Strangeness' with the work of the late Ha Bik Cheun, a HK printmaker, showing his colorgraph boards. I picked up a copyof the catalogue which was free! Also pictured is the current resident collective. Really interesting text/ word installation. ( See last pic for credits).
Food now! 😋 From one ⭐ Michelin places that you que to get in ( Calums' third attempt for a seat at the table to eat HK's renowned roast goose), Japanese grill where a robot brings you your food to simple breakfasts and wholesome collagen loaded soup ( pork rib with winter melon and century egg).
Shop fronts, workshops,tool shops, metal fabricators, engineering all spilling out onto the streets in Mong Kwok, the odd ally way and funeral parlour. Fascinating!
