"Made it in the UK" is a tribute to my parents and the years they spent running a Chinese takeaway. It's about the labour and the long hours to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads. It's about persevering, hoping you made the right decision to leave home to start a new life in a foreign land. It's about hoping the next generation won't forget where they came from but grow up being accepted and are able to have a better life with more opportunities.

Love Languages is now up at Touchlines
Touchlines by @the62group is a group show drawing connections between textile labour, sporting cultures and human relationships, asking how boundaries shape intimacy, care and collective identity.
Touchlines is open Thurs - Sunday from 1st - 31st May 10 - 4pm @sunnybankmills
Also join me and fellow 62 Group textile artists for a Meet & Make on Sat 16th May 6 - 8pm. We'll be talking about the process of making the work and there will be mini workshops and demonstrations.
This is a ticketed event. DM me for the link β€οΈ
Ps. I forgot to mention @theshedruislip previously when talking about the work. I got the wooden dowels that form both ends of the scroll from Gabby. Spindles from a broken ercol chair are now part of my work. Thank you ππΌ

After the last few stressful weeks, the past days are feeling brighter. Swipe β¬ οΈ for a picture of my studio manager (Boggins) going home from her post-op check-up.
I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people I've had for support. Honestly, the last few weeks would have been much harder without them around.

Happy lunar new year everyone!! π§§πΈπ§§ππ§§π
Last Friday was my last session on a @citylit Printmaking course (Cut, stab, etch: printmaking with linocuts). I'm so pleased with how my little fish turned out. There might be a printmaker in me as well.... π
Oh and I've written my first newsletter update for 2026, which explains a bit more about the symbols in the print. You'll find the link to my Substack in the bio. X

Work in progress - I'm handstitching my mum's lotus root soup recipe onto an old apron.
The recipe part is in her own handwriting and she occasionally switches between traditional and simplified Chinese, Chinese numerals and numbers and very occasionally from Chinese to English.
I was interested to see how Google lens (the AI) copes with translating the recipe into English. Here's what it mamaged to translate.
Stay tuned for the rest x

Work in progress.
For those of you who love the back of the work as much / more than they love the front.

Starting 2026 the way I mean to go:
more of my favourite things.
The small things. The tasty things.
Nourishing, homely things.
Whatever the thing, making sure it feels like me.
Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful 2026 π±
