Farm-ily spotlight #3 🔥🥘🥬🥕🌶️🥗🧄 ~The big declicious meal ~ With everything on the table sourced locally from farmers (who are at the table!) This year is a absolute treat & live outdoor cooking expierence by the magnificent @yejinyoon “I am constantly reminded that there is a universally understood power in a meal shared. Imagine how welcome the smell of dinner at home would be if you were torn from it or had to leave it behind. Imagine how you might follow your nose until you found the source. In one way or another, food can be what sparks the start of a community in unfamiliar lands. Flora and fauna alike will be on display, hanging from the bars of a hoop house over open fire pits. To cook over an open fire like this, without abandon, is a dream. I feel the most connection to my craft, the earth, and to humankind when cooking with flames and nothing but found wood as fuel.” Wowwieee 😍 We simply can’t wait One week away! Get your tix🎟️🎟️🎟️

Welcomed in my 30s at @oxbowschoolofart making some good food with a kickass team in @aaronlukeb and @gbaypowerseller 🔥 🔥🔥 Been a while since I’ve been part of a team that could and did run so smoothly despite some fun hurdles thrown at us. Grateful to the two of them for the high spirits, their (extensive) talents , and their generous and unending hustle. Grateful to Oxbow and their team for the warm welcome and opportunity to cook in such a fun space! Also the high-production, impeccably choreographed dance and song to end the birthday night 😌 I wish I could remember to take more pictures 🥲

It’s almost over! But here’s what I’ve been doing this summer @acreresidency - what a joy it has been to work/play/learn/teach/create/forage/dance/sing alongside everyone that I’ve met along the way ❤️ here are some things that I+friends made! 1. Matcha melon milk - Yakult, muskmelon, and oat milk layered under matcha latte 2. Smoked local turkey breast all summer for sandwiches 💁🏻‍♀️ 3. The cutest GF cake ever that I helped @kkakitake make and decorate - colors from mulberries from the grounds and matcha 4. ‘The MF Earth’ ice cream - butterfly pea jasmine tea+ matcha swirl 5. @zachary_hutchinson and her scrumptious sweetzas! More sugar! More butter! ❤️ 6. Slung pizza almost every session with a wood fire oven made by a past resident🔥 @spitboy_ threw down this particular pizza night 💪🏼 7. The aforementioned oven 8. Local muskmelon and buttermilk sherbet 9. Beet pickled eggs I wish I could have fed to @beach_botticelli 🥲

Making food is my love language. So when @giffard_mary asked if I was able to make cakes and a charcuterie/cheese board (with each item specifically representing a family member or friend of Dani’s) this weekend for Dani and Ethan’s adapted wedding celebrations I jumped at the chance. I asked her if there was any cake/flavor in particular Dani loved growing up and she immediately said tres leches! So I had to brush up on my (very limited) Spanish and YouTubed every Spanish-speaking baking channel I could to learn how to make this delicious cake and sent slices to every Latinx person in my vicinity I knew for approval and criticism. Of course, tres leches is perfect and a classic as is but to add an extra layer of *Dani* to her bridal shower cake, I added mango marinated in honey and lime zest, mango mousse, and bright flowers. Mango happens to be her favorite and with Dani it’s always the more colors, the better. The other was for Dani and Ethan as the newlyweds!! So opted for a coffee-flavored soak and a salty dulce-de-leche Italian meringue buttercream. A memory I hold very fondly is a time early in our friendship when I went over for breakfast and Ethan made his signature Eggadillas and the three of us had a good rant about life and the world. He had an espresso waiting with options for milk already considerate of the fact that I’m [in denial of being] lactose intolerant. He talked about coffee for maybe 45 minutes and I realized that he was the kind of person that liked to know everything about everything (as evidenced by the half a greenhouse in their dining room). Always learning something when he’s around. I’m no professional at decorating but I was so so so honored to be able to make these for two of the best humans I know and to be able to share in the celebrations that Mariana somehow managed to coordinate remotely. BIG ups to her for pulling this all off!!! It was so special to spend time with you and your families and I know the two of you and Eddie will thrive together as you already have been for years to come ❤️ Also LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL @danizuchoeats IS ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Made these super cute shokupan-ish buns stuffed with a creamy filling of local corn, potatoes, and breakfast sausage. Maybe top 3 things I’ve ever baked, especially hot out of the oven 😍. Swipe for crumb shot 👀👀 Definitely need to work on shaping but most turned out ok! #bread #buns #filledbun

Summertime Midwest produce appreciation post ❤️ pea season felt so short this year but I found some new favorite snacks: sour cherries dipped in raw sugar and tomato sandwiches with bread fried in bacon fat (plus Kewpie, obviously) A silver lining to ~all this~ is that I actually get to take my time at the farmers market and make something for myself (and Aaron and sometimes BB) with the bounty #local #shoplocal

So this one time, @crcapano was teaching me how to make croissant dough and we broke the butter but then made that dough into cinnamon buns (so as to not waste of course) and I remember those being the best I had ever had. So last Sunday I made croissant dough and did it up forreal 🤘🏼🤘🏼also made figgy ones with homemade fig jam ❤️❤️#breakfastisthemostimportantmealoftheday #cinnamonbuns
