The legend that is @eltonjohn was on his Farwell Yellow Brick Road Tour in Aberdeen last week and I was asked by @pandjlive to create a poster celebrating all the gigs he’s done in Aberdeen over the years. He was presented a framed print of this poster as a thank you! Such an amazing brief for my first official project as a full-time freelance designer…. Woohooo!! Super excited to finally share … to say I had fun with this would be a massive understatement!! Wish I was going to see him at Glastonbury this weekend, have a good one Elton!

Here’s a peek at some more work I created for @catmonkeyjewels 💎 I designed and built a bespoke ecommerce site using @shopify (…COMING SOON!) digital assets for the @etsy shop and social media templates with @adobeexpress which provide flexibility for clients to easily create their own posts using pre-uploaded digital assets and brand kit! I had so much fun working on this I even animated a few of the cute wee assets as bespoke stickers that can be used on insta stories…

Catmonkey Jewels 💎 is a fun brand I created for a bespoke resin jewellery business ✨. The colour palette is inspired by the bold and playful products, with a hint of 90s nostalgia (…anyone remember those stick on jewel earrings?). I created a typographic logo using different fonts to represent the variety of statement shapes in her product range, with a cute customised capital C motif as a nod to the brand name. New brand design ✨for Bliksem Biltong. I’ll be honest - probably like most people outside of South Africa 🇿🇦 - I had never heard of Biltong before I was asked to create this brand, but after lots of taste tests … I have to confirm it’s Lekker !!
Brian had a really clear vision for the brand - he wanted to use a typical South African farmer ‘FAF’ as the brand mascot - who is on a mission to bring Biltong to the UK! The vibe is a heritage brand that has been updated so it is a bit more modern and funky that will look as at home in upmarket colonial style fancy eateries as it does in the dive bars of Karoo.
To create this look I designed a set of vintage style illustrations (…including FAF). Bliksem means Lightning in Afrikaans, so I utilised a lightning motif throughout the brand. The colour palette is inspired by Braai culture, the dessert sand of Karoo and of course the South African Flag. The typography is a mixture of vintage display fonts with looser sign-painted style text inspired by the aesthetic of D.I.Y South African businesses.
I loved working on this brand - It was so fun to learn about South African culture and the deliverables were a hit list of all my faves - branding, creative direction, illustration and packaging design!
