Easter traditions with @tmagazine šŖŗ Easter is always a week-long celebration in the Philippines (where I grew up). Like every great Filipino tradition, there is always so much good food being made. My fondest Easter memories are of spending time in the kitchen with my mother @chittyatco making Kakanināan assortment of sweet rice cakes. I called her and asked about some ideas for Easter š° One in particular was my motherās childhood Merienda (afternoon snack), the Palitaw, a soft and chewy rice cake boiled and coated in fresh coconut, sugar and sesame seeds. The name means to float, as it rises to the surface when itās cooked. The best part is coating it in all the fixings and eating it while itās still warm š We usually accompany our kakanin with hot chocolate or coffee, at least in our household.
My mother also made it a point to have fresh cut flowers in the house regardless of holidays. Itās clear where i get the love of flowers from! šø Thank you @tmagazine for having us š£š£

PusĆ“, the object informing what Iāll be making and sharing with you all soonāat least, my version of it. Here are some beautiful images and text iāve been collecting.
Mysticism and reverence for nature. As humans, weāre always finding ways to replicate natureās beautyā our way of connecting to it. I look to and learn from the ingenuity of my people and our neighboring cultures, weaving objects with natural materials.
PusĆ“ is a Filipino delicacy of rice cooked inside a woven pouch made from young coconut fronds; it was traditionally prepared as a way to pack rice for journeys, and originates from the province of Cebu. It also means āheartā in Tagalog.
My mother would share stories of our family spending time in Cebu, where we would stay in our titaās ancestral homeāa bahay na bato (stone house)ā buying PusĆ“ at the Carcar market on our way to the beach. Nothing quite like the fragrance of rice steamed/boiled in a leaf pouchāa redolence that plays a big part in this project.
More soon ā„ļø @agosmuni_ny
Muni-muniāa Tagalog term for quiet reflection, contemplation, or pondering. Itās been 2 years of muni-muni and toying away in my studio, and iām excited to finally share what Iāve been up to !
Iām venturing into the world of fragrance with an object for perfuming small spaces. Deeply connected to my Filipino culture, this project will live under my flower arranging practiceāturning @agosmuni_ny into more than just arranging, but a special place for design projects informed by flowers.
Iām excited to share more in the coming weeks, in the mean time here are some progress pics. Hope youāll follow along š¹
