Formed over a year ago, the band has developed a distinctive voice shaped by avant-garde jazz influences and a deep sense of groove and exploration. Featuring Carlos Vega on keys and Federico Selis on drums, Bridge creates immersive soundscapes that balance rhythmic complexity, melodic sensitivity, and improvisational freedom. Each week, Bridge will be joined by different artists making each Thursday something unique and singular. yardwork presents x @kuaaradio x @utahmoca present: Walt McClements Ian Hazel Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 Utah Museum Of Contemporary Art 20 s West Temple Salt Lake City, UT 7:00pm suggested $15 donation notaflof @waltmcclements Whose music has spanned genre and defied sonic gravity, creates not only an incredible soundscape in his performances, but creates a sonic landscape in which we can wander, wonder, marvel, reminisce, be still, process and integrate. His music reaches down into the earth and rises to the sky. “If you ask a poplar about redwoods, they’ll probably start talking something about faith” Walt McClements is an accordionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Los Angeles. His solo compositions focus on processed accordion, creating patient and emotional meditations that nod to drone and ambient music. His debut record, “A Hole in the Fence” was released in 2021 on American Dreams, and utilized a minimal palette of accordions processed through pedals to create glacial soundscapes and odes to hidden worlds. On his latest record, and first for Western Vinyl, “On a Painted Ocean”, he expands his sonic tools to include lush synths, droning pipe organs, and spirited horns, creating a vibrant journey from solitary stillness to community exuberance. The record also follows last year’s “Rain on the Road”, a collaborative album with harpist Mary Lattimore, released on Thrill Jockey. Prior to releasing music under his own name, McClements had been a touring member of Weyes Blood, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Dark Dark Dark, as well as leading New Orleans art-punk brass ensemble Why Are We Building Such A Big Ship? and one man band Lonesome Leash. Ian Hazel you may recall a lot of Ian’s presence in our music community maybe best remembered from his work in folk punk band Bombs & Beating Hearts, Bramble or the hardcore band Trebuchet. Navigating sincerity, raw energy and composition, Ian has re-emerged a fully composed composer, bringing in all his inspirations from classical, punk, waltz, folk, and blending them into some kind of authentic, generous and singular voice for accordion. For years they have been delightfully pushing the boundaries of their instruments and composition, finding the places where humor and high art flourish together.Jason oft with prepared guitars skitter and dance with percussive melody, Nick’s drumming is a masterclass of extended technique and timing. Seperately, they are both fixtures in our arts communities, Nick performing frequently with dance companies like @heartland.collective Jason curated and carrying on 12minutes max at the public library. Together they are an inspiring pulsating mind expanding and delightful creative force. “The sound of strange ideas finding their place, of intellectual hijinks and enthusiastic exchange; it’s the sound of energy and the camaraderie of weirdos” Sen Wisher @benjaminswisher Ben’s music creates an environment in which the everyday becomes enlightened, the mundane illuminated and given it’s moment to shine. More prose than lyric, Ben’s observational writing is a stand out in its own right, put together with his unique musicality, writing mainly for guitar and organs, and joined by drummer Mike Fuchs @passivetourist they create a whole world to get lost in, to be moved by and to be moved into the beauty and profundity and profanity of the everyday. Presenting a special one off event to close out our residency with @kuaaradio yardwork presents x @driftloungeslc x @kuaaradio An evening with John Petrucelli @petrucelliofficial Petrucelli along with some of Salt Lake’s finest in jazz and improvisation return to Driftlounge for an evening of exploratory jazz and improvisation. Their last performance here was so rich with with melody, exploration and deep vibes that it has become John’s forthcoming release. Join us to celebrate and welcome them back to Salt Lake City. The former head of the Jazz Dept at the University of Utah has been ‘Described by All About Jazz as “a musician with a burning desire to explore,” John Petrucelli is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and scholar whose work weaves cutting-edge performance practices with contemporary research methods that challenge the borders and boundaries of jazz, classical, and electronic music. — Petrucelli’s artistic practice includes mentorship and performance with legendary members of the jazz tradition including Geri Allen, Victor Lewis, Ralph Bowen, Charles Tolliver, Carl Allen, Sean Jones, Delfeayo Marsalis, Conrad Herwig, Terence Blanchard, Lewis Porter, and Stanley Cowell.
